We've only a very rough plan Rem and nothing is set in stone.

We fly into Saigon, couple of nights saying hello, then we hire bikes and travel up the coast to Hanoi. A few nights there partying then come back down doing the killing fields, temples, tunnels and museums giving ourselves a couple of nights in Saigon before flying back.

That's as much as it's planned apart from folksy has booked us one night in a nice hotel with a Vietnamese cooking course which should be brilliant.

I think you'll have more chance of seeing them in Cambodia.

Been told this a lot. It's been described as 20 years behind Vietnam, more naive, less commercial and more friendly.

1. Is this possible? And

2. If we only have 3 weeks how feasible is this?

In 3 weeks I did KL, Borneo, Cambodia, Thailand (Ko Samui and Bangkok) and Vietnam.

interesting that more ordnance was dropped by the US on Laos than Vietnam even.  I went for a walk through a village where there were unexploded shells sticking out of the ground.  Scary stuff.

Killing fields was Khmer Rouge wasn't it?

T'was. I'll never forget turning up there hungover to death after spending the previous night surrounded by about 80 American peace corps girls. Seeing that glass monument full of skulls sobered me right up.

Many moons ago I was in Wales for work, we'd been out for a curry and we're having a few beers when I decided to chat up the barmaid.

My line of 'do you like Welsh cock'? was met with a stern no, when I followed it up with 'good because I'm English' made her laugh and got me a suck treat.

I was in cambodia two years ago. It's the best place I've ever been, absolutely loved it. Also been to Vietnam, kuala lumpur, singapore, thailand and china. Asia's brilliant. Got nothing really to add to anything anyone's said apart fom I'll second that it's great not being surrounded by english people.

Oh for a fucking easy straight forward life at the moment.

Folksy went in for a polyp to be removed yesterday, should have taken 15 minutes. But no, the surgeon ends up slicing his colon, it gets infected, he's kept in hospital and is not allowed to fly tomorrow morning. If it doesn't heal properly he'll need a stoma for life.

After having decided to turn down Dubai on Tuesday an improved financial offer has made me re-evaluate and now I don't know what the fuck to do.

I'm not flying tomorrow, I'm going to meet the guy who offered me the Dubai job for lunch on Sunday and he wants a decision by Monday morning.

I may then or may not end up in Dubai before the end of the month or go out to Vietnam a week late.

So basically I don't know what the fuck is going on apart from getting pissed tonight.

How long is the Dubai job for?

Could you ask to take it for three months to see how you all get on and see if everyone is happy. Worst case there is you get a trip to Dubai see the place culture etc and come home with a few quid in 12 weeks
