Went to Rudy's in Castle Street tonight. It's a very relaxed, casual and affordable pizza place, with excellent food (apart from the disappointing caprese salad) and quick service.

Deffo recommended.

Ive been to Olive on Castle Street and Mowgli just off it. Where is Rudys? There is a guinness and pie place there too that I haven't tried yet. Fancy a pint and a argument one day?

Don't do it Mal. It'll be "this pint tastes a bit funny", next thing you know its "bring out the gimp".

Fancy a pint Stig?

Rudy's is where Cao used to be, next door to Gino di Campo's.

Pint and a fight (a great British night) could be a good idea.  Maybe for the first leg of the semi final?

Need some family friendly restaurant ideas in the city centre, please. Bringing my kids (aged 8 and 6) over this weekend for the first time.

Smugglers Cove in the Albert Dock mate. Her niece and nephew love it in there.

What do you mean by family friendly mate? The service, the food, budget or something else? We’ve never had any issues with service over the years anywhere in town even when they were babies, and in terms of food, ours have never been fussy. What do yours eat/not eat? There are so many really great options at all budgets.

They love pasta and pizza. They'll also eat fish/burger/chicken and chips.

When I say family friendly, I meant somewhere you'll not be frowned upon if there's a bit of noise coming from your table. Got that a few times in London last year and you feel like you've got to eat up and get out as quickly as possible.

I can remember you being a kid at Uni going to vegas with Woo and others and then donating your kidney to your dad.

If you’re about in town two good places are Paulo & Donato’s Italian Deli on Williamson Square. Does good coffee, Italian savouries like panzerotti and has amazing ice creams.

Got it’s own bakery. It’s open till 8. Not a restaurant as such. Always loads of Italians there so good sign.

The other is Cosa Buona. Not pasta but Sicilian street food. Last time you could get pizza fries and a drink for a 5er. Boss arrancinnis.  It’s off the market in St John’s tucked away. Their sweets are top drawer too. It’s not a restaurant but there’s tables to eat at.

All of these are great places to eat and absolutely fine for kids (although like I said, we’ve never found anywhere in Liverpool that isn’t over the years); we’ve taken either our kids or my sisters’ to all of these:

Lebanese grill: http://www.bakchich.co.uk/liverpool.php

Mediterranean:

Traditional Italian:

Japanese:

Authentic Spanish tapas:

Tacos:

Fish:

And up around Chavasse Park in Liverpool One, there are loads of reliable big chains including Pizza Express, Nando’s, Wagamama, Zizi, Yo Sushi!, Five Guys, etc.

Fill yer boots.

By the way, avoid that Smoke and Dough place like the plague. It’s fucking shit.
