I learnt that it's common for people in some parts of the English speaking world to pronounce 'Wh' words differently to otherwise identical 'W' words...e.g whine/wine, whither/wither. Apparently, everywhere use to accentuate the H, but now only Scotland, Ireland and some parts of the US do. I live in Scotland and never even noticed. Common knowledge it seems.
