Sky Offer

Recommended Posts

Pissed off Virgin wouldn't play games with me so ended up going with sky as they offered the best deal.

Sky world TV package

Sports

Movies

2HD recordable boxes

Phone line

Free evening and weekend calls

Unlimited broadband

£50 tescos vouchers

For £62.90 a month instead of £101.40 and managed to get her to knock off the one off £25 upfront charge.

Cunts are making me wait till 8 September for installation though.

That's a cracking deal.

Virgin wouldn't be able to get anywhere near that and all they kept on going on about when I was playing then off against each other was they have up to 120 meg broadband and sky don't.

Virgin only offered the 50meg broadband on the package they compared to sky's when I spoke to them.

The bird I spoke to at sky offered me that deal fairly quickly after 'seeing what she could do'. I wouldn't be surprised if people have got better deals.

Sky's broadband is awful in comparison to all the other ISPs I've had experience with. Prone to peak time throttling and just dropping out completely for periods.

What would you need more than 50Mb broadband for, Col? I'd wager that you'd never fully utilise 50Mb anyway, not many people do. Unless you're downloading/uploading massive files, then anything around 10-20Mb is more than sufficient for the average household.

I used to have 2 meg internet mate, I posted the screenshots on here to let everyone laugh at me when we moved to the country.

I wanted to go with virgin and their broadband was a big attraction but it came down to cold hard cash.

But Virgin were shit when it came to monthly bills and forced me into the hands of that cunt Murdoch.

I'm blaming them.

Fair enough. I never had a problem with VM when I was with them. I would have had them in this time round as well, but they've not cabled the area I'm living in at the moment, so went with BT Infinity, which has been excellent, it must be said.

Not if you have 3 or 4 people in the house who all use the net at the same time, 10mb - 20mb will soon slow down the experience.

I would love to volley Sky's bollocks.

So would I Tony. Think I need to phone them twats up and threaten to cancel again.

I gather they're not taking it lieing down any more and keep you on the line for fucking ages. People who tried to cancel via internet chat (why would anyone do it that way?) have been engaged in over an hour of conversation. Fuck that.

10mb ain't what it used to be. Get Netflix going, kids watching 1080p YouTube, and your porn downloading, and some online gaming, and you'll blow the flux capacitor right into orbit.

I'm on a 100mb and I'm probably a top few percentage user. I would be OK with 50mb, to be honest.

My mate works in the Sky call centre and has said there's a deal for everyone now that subscription charges have or will be going up. You just have to ring in and like someone above has mentioned say you aren't happy and can't afford it. So I wouldn't worry about playing chicken with threatening to quit, you'll all get deals.

My sky has gone. Was on a 50% discount too but still couldn't justify the expense. We don't get to watch the telly we want anymore due to kids having control of the it, plus I've got kodi installed on my Amazon box which gives me all the live footy, new films and box sets for free anyway. Ended up picking up a BT Youview contract for a tenner a month where they threw HD in for free and that includes some of the better channels that sky have anyway. It also has the option to watch any programme from the last 7 days on some of the channels and streams them straightaway, meaning I don't have to worry about storage, however it does give me 300 hours of recording on the box also. My Netflix works from the box too so that saves me having the chromecast plugged in.

I'll just wait for sky to call in a few months with a humdinger of a deal to go back to them.

Currently with Sky, after you give your 31 days notice of cancellation you should find a 35% TV discount offer awaiting in your online account. Ignore this and the figure increases to 50% shortly after your channels go off a month later. Over the following weeks they'll then begin phoning and emailing you with more offers. It's therefore recommended to go online and set your account marketing preferences to "yes" before cancellation.

The current top line offer for TV is 60% off plus £100 (2 x £50) credit on your bill. This offer is available on all size Sky TV packages (excludes BT Sport etc), although you may find some call operators will try and push you in the direction of the bigger bundles. You can also up/downgrade each month and still keep your discount. The Original bundle, for instance, which comprises Sky Atlantic and all the other entertainment channels as well as the Sky+ features works out at a total of £3.20 for one year with this deal as almost all the cost is soaked up by the bill credit.

I binned them off for Virgin last month and all this is true. I told them at the time that if they could match the Virgin price I'd stay but they refused.

A month later and they're throwing deals at me for half that price but I'm tied into contract now.

I put mine into the 31 day cancellation period and had an e-mail within a week offering 60% off any TV bundle and £50 Sky credit.

Anyone who's had sky for 12 months can get this deal, I cancelled on their live chat and went straight back on it and said I had received a letter being offered this deal, they gave it to me straight away.

Other people are saying it's possible to get 75% off or 60% with £100 credit, this link has some info about the sky deals.

Anyone got any worthwhile deals off sky recently? They've been panned over the last 18 months about making it difficult for people to cancel so wondered if phoning up with the I want to cancel line is still getting them to offer a big discount?

Had to phone them up last week as my silly son had left his box switched off for over a month so had disconnected itself from the viewing card and while that was easily sorted, they offered me another HD box for 30 quid.

Er sorry no, I want to cut my subs not spend more!
