Now that all the leagues have finished, the post-season internationals are over and the new season's fixtures have been announced, all general football discussion should go here.

Looking forward to this now. I'm assuming Klopp is a done deal going by what I can gleam. New manager will no doubt be given funds to spend, maybe not so much in January but enough to bring in one or two players I would imagine. It would also seem that Klopp has said he wants the last word on all signings. Knowing Klopp from his time at Mainz and Dortmund I'm expecting him to sort out our defence pronto, especially when he has seen the likes of Lovren fucking about and Toure with his zimmer frame. He has loads of contacts in Germany and is still well revered by players. I have a feeling he'll probably try and persuade Hummels to come to us.

If that's what we can expect from him next season then bring it on. The lad was unplayable and was the best player on the pitch by a mile when he came on. I thought he took the 2nd chance perfectly well, Cech just got across really well. Can't blame then lino as even on reply it was hard to be certain it was over the line. Anyway, I think I was wrong about big Andy. He looked every bit a top player whenhe came on. A big summer has to include getting in players to compliment him.

Dan Roan on twitter has said he has it on good authority that RBS will not re-finance and will take control of the club in the next two weeks. Roan was interviewing Hester today apparently so that's the best authority! Also, talk of a US and Asian bid and the board are due to meet tomorrow, again apparently. (I've used the word 'apparently' alot over these last few months!)

So who are we going to buy then? I think it'll be another 1 in 1 out window like last year .... Sturridge Out - Werner In Origi Out - someone from the youth setup in (wilson or brewster or both). Ming out - youth goalie promoted. Moreno out - probably that young left back from bristol in. Milner out (if leeds get promoted) - Rabio maybe in?? Matip Out - Random CB in or youth promoted. £30-40m sales, £60-80m on purchases.

I honestly think enough is enough, Rodgers is becoming our biggest problem. 1 2 3 4 67

I honestly don't think Rodgers plans for opponents and he certainly doesn't pick on their weaknesses and our strengths to get at them. It seems he just picks the 11 players and tactics HE wants regardless. Square pegs in round holes, players being played out of position or ahead of better ones and stupid substitutions as he tries to justify his own ideas. Consistently playing one up front and a gaggle of midfielder's behind who offer fuck all width as they are all much the same type of player. We have some decent midfield players but they are strangled as we continue to play the same absurd tactics. Now and again the players and a bit of luck will drag his arse out o…

Deserves it's own thread now, otherwise the transfer thread is going to get completely sidetracked with this. Just what the actual fuck???? Liverpool Football Club would like to put on record our regret over recent media speculation regarding Southampton Football Club and player transfers between the two clubs. We apologise to the owner, board of directors and fans of Southampton for any misunderstanding regarding Virgil van Dijk. We respect Southampton's position and can confirm we have ended any interest in the player.

I'm still working towards launching the new version of the site in time for the start of the season, I'm just ironing out some minor issues before I start trying to transfer over the database. I remembered that Paul has been banging on about wanting to be able to post soundcloud files in the forum, so I've just added that facility to it. Any other requests, and try to keep them sensible?
Last reply by Paul, -
So, as it's due to open tomorrow, what business do you think we'll do? It looks like Sturridge and Ince will happen, Cole will go to QPR and Butland is a possibility. Those would all be sensible deals. However, does anyone think we could do anything else for the first team? Is Ba a possibility or just paper talk? Also, will/should there be any other departures? I'd like to see Downing gone as I think he represents everything that's been wrong with Liverpool for a long time. Morgan on loan to Blackpool would be good for him and us as they play good stuff at a good level and he'd get games. I'd keep Jack Robbo here though and play him. If Andre Wisdom is read…

Reports are gathering that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are going to go all out to land Suarez, with Suarez actually favoring a move to the latter. If Barcelona and/or Real Madrid are serious about their bids for Suarez, I'd be resigned to losing him. John Henry will want £80-90M though, you can be sure of that. But if their opening bid is £60M and they think can push a saga into the season, they will get the middle finder from Rodgers. Like Arsenal did. We could do a lot worse than wriggle a Alexis Sanchez out of Barcelona and a Isco or Di Maria out of Real Madrid. With £60M+, of course. The monies received, whatever it is, will have to be used to replace …

I've just been reading that it is unlikely that he will be fit for the Man City game. By the time he is likely to feature again, that will be another six-eight weeks out. There has been very little said about this injury other than there is swelling in the knee with some fluid. No player should take almost two months to recover from that. Not with sports science today. He apparently got the Hip/Thigh issue resolved once and for all in the Summer over in Boston but here we are with something new. I really don't think we can continue with having this hope that when Sturridge returns, we'll improve drastically. Of course we will, and we do, but it is a false hope an…

I am on record I want him gone... If he goes who would you replace him with? Klopp Rafa Personally Im thinking Carlo Ancellotti - likely to leave Madrid, knows the league, classy MoFo, Not a great record winning leagues, but... he would have my vote.

Seeing as there are plenty of opinions surrounding him from fans at the moment, I'd thought I'd start a thread. Basically, there are two opinions. Firstly, he's a forward who has excelled on the right of a front three for a top team and scored goals. He's very talented and with the right direction he could become a top top player - which is where he was heading towards under Villa-Boas. Then Di Matteo came in and didn't fancy him at all. Second opinion - why didn't Di Matteo fancy him? There are questions over his attitude, and when there was talk of him signing a new deal with Chelsea, Sturridge believed his own hype and wanted something similar to his teamma…

A few of the squads are being announced this week, including England's. Figured it was time to get the ball rolling. Really looking forward to it. Fancy Germany or Holland, with Spain there or thereabouts but they look a bit depleted to me.

Locked the other thread as it's served it's purpose. Any problems you come across, or suggestions you want to make can go in here. I know some will immediately come steaming in about tags. I haven't forgotten about it, but I've disabled them for the time being until I can figure out how to have them only show up in the actual threads rather than on the forum index page, as I don't like how that looks. Makes everything seem too cluttered.

We've got an LFC World Cup thread but I thought I'd start one for general match chat, etc. Firstly, I've been trying to locate an ap for all the matches but there doesn't seem to be one? I thought that was strange. Anyone got a link to a good fixtures website? And finally....... Who's going to win it?
