I've set up a league on xbox for this and am giving the mf the first opportunity to join. After that I'll open it up to the mongs in cheapland and we'll fill up the spaces left. I tried this before on the techy thread but not enough interest. The league is called 'the liverpool way' and the abbreviation is 'TLW' Password will be given out when team picks are happening. Put your names on here if you are interested and we'll start doing team pics soon. MF members will get first choice obviously. I'll leave this open for a few days before I offer it to the mongs.

Along with Virgil I’m probably Joel’s number one fan and have been for years. No-one loves him more than me, not even his own wife. I’ve said on numerous occasions he’s the best centre back in the world not named Van Dijk but I am definitely biased. He’s just great though isn’t he? For the first half of the season I think he was our best centre half, but as the season wore on normal service was resumed and Virg became the top man again. Even I'll concede that. Joel has had to split his playing time with Ibou Konate which may have been a little frustrating for him at times but probably contributed to him going through the entire season injury free. Imagine that…

Just wanted to know what's happened to TLW podcast and is it likely to come back? I've been listening to the Anfield Wrap podcasts recently which I have been enjoying but I always preferred TLW. Are there any other decent LFC podcasts anyone would recommend?

Longest-serving football manager in England calls it a day after 50 years • Jimmy Davies has won 72 trophies with Liverpool amateur side • 'Ferguson never had to wash kits and footballs like me' The longest-serving manager in English football history, Jimmy Davies, will bow out on Tuesday evening when the Liverpool County Premier League side Waterloo Dock play their final match of the season against Red Rum. Davies, 71, has managed the club for its entire 50-year history and was the driving force behind its formation in Clubmoor, near Anfield, in 1963 when he and some fellow dockworkers set the ball rolling. After making a handful of less-than-impressive …

Me and a photographer friend have just made a very short film about an old Sunday League Referee in Zaragoza. We wanted to tell a story about football the game , not football the business If you have a spare 4 minutes take a look, and if you like it, please pass it around - the more views we get, the easier it will be to get sponsorship and commissions for future projects. If you don't like it, fair enough - it is pretty wierd. cheers. No fame, no luxuries, no riches.... just football Enjoy our latest story, The Sunday Ref! Jurgen Klopp often says that he should have played Origi far more than he has, and that’s definitely true. He should have started more games but you can see how difficult that is with the players he has ahead of him. Why he hasn’t been brought off the bench more is the question I would ask. When he plays, he scores. He might not do much else and that’s why he’s always behind the other forwards we have, but I know one thing; if we go into the last ten minutes of a game needing a goal there is nobody - literally nobody - I’d rather have on the pitch in those closing stages. When we drew with Spurs at Anfield Origi was left kicking his heels on the be…

He scored 10 goals and only started nine games. He’s a big reason why we have two more domestic cups on the Champions Wall. Whatsmore, when he was brought in from the cold against Southampton in a must win league game, he delivered for us again with the opening goal. He’s a terrific little footballer who took advantage of the limited chances that were given to him and he probably deserved to play more. I understand why he didn't, as he's got world class players ahead of him, but Minamino is good enough to have been a Liverpool regular. Just not in this era. Other than Origi, he might just be the most clinical forward we had. He rarely misses, altho…

i couldn't resist... Soccer: The rebirth of the New York Cosmos - ESPN "It was a very different time than it is today," Toye said. "The present-day Cosmos will come into an environment where the World Cup has been played in this country, where American players play in Europe and the U.S. national team is indescribably better. Everybody knows what soccer is, and everywhere there are soccer fields." It's in this environment that the Cosmos are looking to be reborn. A group of investors has purchased the Cosmos' naming rights, with the hopes of rejoining soccer's American big league, which this time around is the MLS. The club's soccer clout includes Paul K…

Got a couple of them that my boy is now sadly too old for. If someone would like them, PM me your address and I`ll try and get them over to you in time for Chrimbo. Pretty gently used, 0-3 months. The club shop is pricey and hence me and the wife decided to pass these onto someone that wants them rather than saving as memorabilia.

Why do Journos and commentators etc, Refer to Liverpool's Financial problems when it Should be referred to as the "Purchase debt placed on the Club By George Gillete and Tom Hicks." Or the Financial problems caused by "David Moores, Rick Parry, George Gillete, Tom Hicks, Christian Purslow, Martin Broughton." The Famous six all contributing.

Is it time for a change, or time for a winter break maybe? We have been luckier than most teams as we had 2 postponements in this gruelling period, but if I remember rightly some teams have had/will have to had to play 5 times in 15 days. No other league in Europe does this, it is entirely unique to England. It wouldn't be so bad if we just played Boxing Day and New Year's Day but we squeeze that game in on the 28th and I bet that's the game that most clubs would do away with if they could. Would you change it? What would you do to change it?

Surely one of the clearer lessons of the ‘too much too quick’ culture in football. Michael Johnson released as Manchester City finally lose patience | Football | guardian.co.uk Michael Johnson, once tipped as an England international and one of the best young players to emerge through Manchester City's academy in the past decade, has been paid off from his contract after the club finally ran out of patience with him. Johnson, convicted of two drink-driving offences last September, was offered a severance package from his £40,000-a-week contract just before Christmas, after several years of decline. The club decided not to announced it publicly but it has come …

Broughton takeover Q&A - Liverpool FC Some good stuff to read in there, although until it's 100% finalised, everything is cautious optimism at the moment. Q- Is their winning mentality the thing which has impressed you most about them during this period? A- Yes. Their commitment is to winning on the pitch and that helps you win off the pitch too. The two are mutually reinforcing.
