It's gone pretty well, so far. I have nothing of substance to post about, but I'd like to know how many people we have on the MF. I call on all lurkers to resist their natural perverted urge to hide in the shadows and come forward.

Yes, 2001. And it makes for hilarious/depressing reading, depending on your state of mind. We had so many of the top ones, but ultimately... :wallbutt: 1. Djibril Cisse (STR, Auxerre) 2. Andres D'Allesandro (AM, River Plate) 3. Leandro Bonfim (AM, Vitoria/PSV Eindhoven) 4. Fernando Jose Torres (STR, Atletico Madrid) 5. Jermaine Pennant (R/WNG, Arsenal) 6. Rafael Van der Vaart (C/MF, Ajax) 7. Florent Sinama-Pongolle (STR, Le Havre/Liverpool) 8. Piotr Trochowski (AM, FC Bayern Munich) 9. Anthony Le Tallec (AM/CFWD, Le Havre/Liverpool) 10. That history was made and from this point in our history we now have the longest gap between our title triumphs. The longest gap previoius was from 1947 to 1964. How long can this continue for such a great club

I know our away kit is due to be unveiled in the coming days and I noticed Chelsea have put theirs up on their site, so thought there may be some more that we can all put here. Chelsea home and goalkeeper kits:

The challenge is thus: peruse any of the transfer threads on the FF, or in fact any thread on the FF, and everytime someone like Numerous mentions a player with high scoring Scrabble letters in their name as a potential transfer target post them here. Points are awarded as follows:- Z=10 Q=10 J=8 X=8 K=5 A bonus five points is awarded for a player with 2 of the above letters in their names. A bonus ten points is awarded for a player with 3 of the above letters in their names. A bonus twenty points is awarded for a player with 4 of the above letters in their names. A whopping FIFTY POINTS is awarded for a player with 5 of the above letters in t…

I think we need a RiS style positivity thread on here. Reading posts by BBB, Code and Trucker Paddy are making me lose the will to live. I know things aren't great, but fuck me some of the criticisms being thrown around are way over the top. Every thread topic ends up with the same people moaning about the same things. So take the moaning about FSG or Rodgers or Reina or whatever else to one of the numerous other threads dealing with it and lets have this thread for discussions on what you like about the club at the moment. ========================================================= I'm made up with the emergence of Sterling. I know he's only young and far from …

Back in this pile of shite again. The only potential benefit here is if we actually win it but that looks nigh on impossible at this very moment. Unless of course Sturridge can stay fit, starts firing and inspires the rest of the squad to glory along with one or two reinforcements - but it's hard to believe any of that will happen at this stage. Meaning if the team who wins it has already qualified from their league, you go straight in to group stage. I hope the blueshite draw Roma. As of today, we're favourites for the tournament at 11/1.

2014/15 Squad 1 2

Posting in the summer transfer thread and reading Dave's reviews got me thinking about what a young and talented squad we really possess. I've said several times the last year that I don't think it'll take wholesale changes/incomings to stay competitive in the league while taking on CL duties, and I thought I'd put this to paper. The theory is to have two players of good quality for every position. I've put the players/positions I think we need to replace/add to in bold, and questionmarks next to players recovering from injury. ------------------------------------------------------Mignolet/Jones------------------------------------------------------------ Jo…

Well, seeing as the start of new season is less than a month away, we may as well get the ball rolling on this. Same rules as always. £10 with the prize pot being dished out at the end of thee season as Cath (Champ) deems fit. There's plenty of time for you fuckers to find £10 between now and the start of the season so I'm imposing a strict deadline of up to the kick off of the first game which is 12.45 PM Mun U Vs Spurs (I think) I should add that I'm totally depending on Cath to volunteer her usual services to the running of this. The predictions were the only thing that kept my interest in an otherwise dead rubber for us last season so get your hands in your p…

It seems like the most natural thing in the world now, but when the season started and Adam Lallana was in central midfield, it was seen as something of a gamble by Jurgen Klopp and there were a lot of question marks about Lallana’s suitability to the role. It was clear from the first game of the season at the Emirates though that he was born to play this position under this manager. Klopp deserves a lot of credit for the way he reshaped the team for this season. Last year he mostly played 4-2-3-1. Lallana was almost exclusively used out wide, James Milner was in the centre of midfield, Roberto Firmino was moved all over the forward line, often out wide, an…

It was a weird season for Daniel Sturridge. He missed half of it through various injuries, but that wasn’t the weird part as that’s par for the course these days. What was odd was that when he was fit he wasn’t always that good. That's unusual. For the first part of the season he was mostly a sub because the front three were doing so well. He got starts in the League Cup and looked good, scoring twice at Burton and then hitting two against Spurs at Anfield. So he looked sharp enough, but with Roberto Firmino tearing it up in the middle there was no room in the starting line up for Sturridge. He did start at Burnley, on the right wing, and was crap, but it's …

I suspect I’ll be in a relatively small group that also includes Jurgen Klopp when I say that I thought Dejan Lovren had a pretty good season on the whole. He had his brainfarts of course, usually against his bogey club Crystal Palace. And he was injured too much. But when he played he was generally solid. He started the season strongly but had a wobble at the end. In between was mostly good but he is still prone to the odd mad moment. Not to the extent that we saw in his first season here, but he hasn’t completely eradicated them and probably never will. He began the season playing alongside Ragnar Klavan but as soon as Joel Matip was inserted …

They often say you should save the best until last. Yeah, well that’s not what’s happening here. The opposite in fact. Divock Origi was the most disappointing player at Liverpool last season. He wasn’t the worst, that was Loris Karius, but I had lower expectations of Karius and besides, the young keeper didn’t really get the opportunity to play his way through his bad spell. Origi made more appearances than anyone else in the squad. There was no lack of opportunity for him to shine, he just didn't make the most of it. He wasn’t completely useless and he did some good things. His goals tally wasn’t too bad, and he’s still young so there will inevitably …

It was a game of two halves for big Emre last season. The first part of the season was crap, but to his credit he turned it around and finished strongly. Some context needs to be added to those struggles he had in the first part of the year though. He was the last player to report back for pre-season after Germany’s involvement in the Euros, so he was behind everyone else when the season got under way and he had also been bothered by a calf injury. During pre-season Jurgen Klopp had converted Jordan Henderson into a defensive midfielder and signed Gini Wijnaldum to play in one of the box to box roles. Not good news for Can. He came off the bench at Arsenal on…

A lot of eyebrows were raised last summer when Jurgen Klopp shelled out £25m for Gini Wijnaldum, who had spent the previous season playing in an attacking role for relegated Newcastle. He wasn’t being signed to play that role for us though, he’d be an orthodox midfielder, or if you like, Joe Allen’s replacement. The team were flying early on, but Wijnaldum was one of the least eye catching performers. He was alright, he ran around a lot and was neat and tidy, but at that early stage there was little to suggest he brought anything to the team that Allen wouldn’t have. Some would still argue that’s the case, even now *points accusingly at Redknight*, but as the…

I thought Milner had a great season and hasn’t had anywhere near the credit he deserves for it. In fact, I’ve probably seen as much criticism for him as praise, possibly even more, which bothers me a lot. James Milner is ace, he’s everything I want in a footballer as he’s pure old school. He’s not covered in tatts, he doesn’t have a stupid haircut, you never hear stories about him acting the dickhead and he’s a manager’s dream. Yet he still has his critics. That does my head in. I almost take criticism of Milner personally, like it’s one of my friends or family being slagged off. I don’t like it, it upsets me, because Milner is boss. I’m not sure…
