Can someone explain to me why this was (and still is) considered one of the biggest shocks of all time? I know they'd been non leagues only a decade before, but for that final they finished 7th in the old first division. There were only 6 places between us, yet the way its often referred to as the FA Cups biggest shock you would think they were divisions below us. Surely a bigger "shock" would be something like 1995 - Everton (15th) beating the Mancs (2nd) I'm sure if I went through the FA cup history I could find better examples of where the winners were more than 6 places below their opponents.

Apparently all those interviews with La Liga players have been fabricated. Owen Blackhurst Thursday, 23 September 2010 Not surprised as it is Daily Star, but I wonder why this hasn't been exposed before. Probably because no one would admit to reading that tripe. When I had a quiet pint pre-game it was noticeable that all the talk was about ownership as usual. In fact the only time I actually had a proper conversation about the game was when I was chatting to a few Northampton fans. They fully expected to be beaten but were just loving the chance of a competitive game at Anfield, and I fully expected us to win. Even being aware of the team I still thought we’d be far too good for them. Right. Before I go anywhere, I want state that having boycotted the game for a season I’m now of the opinion that action at the game is what’s needed and so I fully agree with the action planned at the Sunderland and Blackpool games. Staying away (unless a proper and workable boycott is announced) simply doesn’t work as was shown by the miserable turnout at the Steaua game which was barely referred to in the press. I also think that some of the comments directed at DaveU were truly bloody pathetic on the FF regarding the Sunderland spare ticket. I should add I am of the opinion that a walk out 10 mins into a game would be brilliant and would love that to happen. …

The more I have thought about the game against Man Utd on Sunday the more I have felt that there is a need for us to change the formation we have. It simply doesn't suit our players, especially in what is probably our weakest position - out wide. Our current selection of players that can, or will, fill in the positions on either flank are all players who've made a name for themselves in far more advanced roles than we currently utilise them. Kuyt, Babel and Jovanovic have all looked good at times for their respective countries when played in the wide of a 3 man attack. Matches are numbered 1 – 9 and in that order you have to accumulate the most correct results in strict match number order You might get 2-9 correct but if you’re wrong on match 1 then you’re out as we saw last week. Each match will have three options, home win, away win or draw. You must bet 10 credits on only one outcome per match. Correct results pay out but only enough to win you your 10 credits back. The more I watch the academy on LFC TV, the more impressed I get with this lad. What height is he? He must be at least 6'4. He has everything you need to be a top top forward. In my opinion, he's the perfect frontman for the modern formation, 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 if you like. He's got strength, pace, technique and skill all in abundance. I have never seen a player so tall go past players with such ease. Almost Drogba-esque. He turns 18 next month, I would love to see him get a shot in the reserves very soon. Just to see how he handles defenders who are more developed than at academy level.

I am a massive massive Reina fan, fucking love the guy. Think he is a class act, and would be one hell of a laugh on a night out. But... the Steau match, I don't think he did much as captain, I didn't see him giving orders once, and normally when he isn't captain, he does. And yesterday, did he make much of an effort for any of those goals? Discuss...

Right then, what are we going for here? Northampton are a mid-table League Two side (who were put to the sword at the weekend by the mighty Shrewsbury), so I think we can afford to give some youngsters a chance and still win comfortably. But some of the squad players need games to build up some fitness, too. He wasn't happy after the game at all. - It's two games now that I've been on the bench, so let's give it a bit of time, but it's not something that I want to do permanently. - If I knew his thinking it would be easier, but I don't. - the style has been changed compared to when Benitez was here, when there was more passing from the back. Stoke v West Ham and Behrami is acting a proper twat imo. I hope he gets sent off. Some decent games in Italy today with Fiorentina v Lazio and Milan v Catania. Later tonight in Spain we have the battle of the Reals. Other than that I don't really see too many interesting games coming up. Sunderland v Arsenal could have been good, but since Cattermole is yet again suspended I'm not too sure about it.
