This is our most defensive partnership at the moment - if I remember correctly they had a number of impressive performances & clean sheets last season prior to Kyrgiakos being suspended following the Everton game. I hope that when Agger & Johnson are fully fit this partnership is retained as it looks the most effective. I believe they have 5 games last season which corresponded to our most successful spell post October 2009. Stoke 1-1 Spurs 2-0 Wolves 0-0 Bolton 2-0 Everton 1-0 This season they have been amongst our best players in the last 2 games and are looking solid again.

Just read somewhere else that he's answered a load of questions and will be answering more apparently. The John W Henry Interview - Part One Would copy the post but it's got something about copyright at the bottom of it. Best not throw it up just in case. I expect a future question to be 'Will you bring back Rafa?'.

He is now 25 years old and coming into his peak years. He won the PFA Young Player of the year in 2008/9 He is quick and appears an intelligent footballer in regards to most English wingers He has 18 months left on his contract and has delayed extension talks until the summer and may be available for a reasonable price. He has recently moved into a 2nd forward role and has played well which seems to highlight a good football brain. John Barnes was an Ex Watford player who moved to Liverpool when he was 24. I think at about 12M he may worth a shot in the summer - thoughts?

Thread on the FF got me thinking over a few pints and a nice long hot bath. & yes i've come out all wrinkled but with no shrinkage before anyone asks. I went with needing 1 left back, 1 centre back, 1 centre mid, 1 right sided forward, 1 left sided forward & a sub/alternative striker. Without wanting this to go all Championship Manager or whatever its called nowadays in its poor mans modern version. Who do you thik would be good, realistic potential purchases to improve the team. The new owners have said they'll invest but wisely i.e without beign stupid. Lets face it you'd be a fucking idiot to spend £300m on something with thinking about spendi…

Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina are ready to quit Liverpool in January thanks to secret escape clauses in their contracts. The Spain internationals made the get-out agreements with their Anfield bosses in the summer when they were persuaded to stay despite the departure of Spanish boss Rafa Benitez. Now Torres and Reina, key to Roy Hodgson’s attempts to steer the club away from the relegation zone, want out after promises of major team investment went unfulfilled. Mirror Sport understands the pair will tell the club in December they wish to leave, with Manchester City keen on £50 million Torres and Manchester United and Arsenal pursuing £20m Reina. The doub…

Thought to make it easier to find stories we could have a thread for them? I've only posted today's new stories and have avoided certain publications for the obvious reasons. 27th October, 2010 Mirror: Gerrard backs Torres Telegraph: Liverpool to steer clear of big money signings in January Independent: Hodgson to be denied big signings in January

Thought this was a superb read from Jonathan Wilson of the Grauniad: The Question: Are Barcelona reinventing the W-W formation? To counter teams who sit deep, Barça push both full-backs up the pitch – echoing the 2-3-2-3 formation of the 1930s. Football is a holistic game. Advance a player here and you must retreat a player there. Give one player more attacking responsibility and you must give another increased defensive duties. As three at the back has become outmoded as a balanced or attacking formation – though not as a defensive formation – by the boom in lone-striker systems, coaches have had to address the problem of how to incorporate attacking full-backs …

Im really getting sick of these bullshit stories. The press are doing their level best to undermine the club and try to cause unrest with shit stories, its getting tedious. and £12 million? i had to make sure i had'nt stepped through a worm hole back to April 1st. Transfer news: Manchester United are targeting Liverpool's Pepe Reina in a sensational £12m swoop - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk fucking unbelievable what these manc twats will make up. Ive heard the rumors hes unhappy but to entertain hed go to manu for 12 mil is ludicrous

Yeah i know, TNF on the MF but the hills have eyes... Just picked up a new HTC Wildfire in red from 3. 500 minutes, 5000 texts, 1gb internet, £20 a month. Anyone looking for a new contract phone pm me, I've got a £30 voucher deal for new 3 customers. Anyone had a go on one of these Wildfire things? The spec looks good. I'm not expecting i-phone technology but I've had a Nokia 6300 for the last 12 months so it'll be an improvement.

This is a really interesting (and long) article about the mathematician Marcus du Sautoy. I found it to be a great read (I'll admit- didnt quite get to the end yet) and especially liked the bits about geometry in football. Though he is an Arsenal supporter. I missed the match yesterday as I had a couple of gigs and I was reading about Torres in Aftonbladet and they claimed he "didn't celebrate with the fans". Now they normally just quote other papers. I have just watched the highlights and he punches the air in front of the fans. What the fuck are they on about? Did I miss something by only seeing highlights?

Right, I dont do Christmas until Christmas day, but thoroughly enjoyed participating in Secret Santa 2009 (my first year). Enjoyed it so much am really looking forward to it again this year. So, who is up for it this year? Thought that considering the new MF set up we can keep it in house and hopefully cut down on offending participants, If no-one else is up for organizing I will do it.

I have fucking had it with him. What the hell is that fucking puffy coat-cape he is wearing? How fucking cold is it in Manchester? Jesus, the Green Bay Packers don't break out the capes until November when the gales blow off the Great Lake. The goddam thing is down to his knees. I tell you,he is fucking Vichy through and through as the bloody Germans circa 1940 wore coats like that minus the stupid swoosh and puffy things that look like water wings sewn together. Has anyone ever seen someone out in public in one of these things? The fucking foie-de-gras munching twat probably plucked the geese himself to stuff the puffy coat. Bring on global warming I s…

I'm only a recent convert to the game, and have adopted the Giants due to having enjoyed visiting San Francisco over the years. They have just made the World Series against... the newly rejuvenated Texas Rangers (sans big fat headed Tom)! Hopefully a sign of the success that can be achieved once the leech is shaken off.

In one corner you have Roy Hodgson with unlikely backers in Carra and Stevie and on the other hand you have the majority of the squad rightly against the manager including Torres, Johnson and the only true LFC legend left at the club Pepe Reina. I say this as when CB states in his article that the squad is fully behind the manager that can only come from his sources which are basically Carra, Gerrard and maybe the replaced Purslow. These two players should be thinking about the whole team not there own careers. I believe we need a desperately strong manager to come in and sort it out acutally probably someone in the mould of Houllier or Rafa who were both very str…
