Massive game. Win it and we have had a decent start to the season, anything less and we will have taken a step backwards from last year. This tends to be a difficult fixture for us, although we've had a good run here recently, and the last two wins have been tight. Even when we were in top, top form 5 months ago we had to grind this one out. Let's tear fat Sham a new one. Surely we can't play Balotelli up front on his own. We need to be at them from the first minute. The midweek game next week is only Boro so we don't have to worry about managing players' fitness. I'd go for a side as close to the team that played at Spurs as possible. If Allen is unfit I think I'd t…

I hate these bastards. Even more so with that Mourinho cunt in charge. He seems keen on winning this competition as well, so fully expect them to have a very strong eleven out. It'll be very hard to stop them from scoring but we've got good practice in with our last two games. A clean sheet would be huge. Anything can happen in semi-finals but we really could do with a win to bring into the 2nd leg at Stamford Bridge. Be interesting to see if Lallana and Gerrard will play. I would probably start the same team as Villa. I'd be interested to see how this Chelsea fairs against our 3-4-3.

We've certainly got a lot to do on our journey back to being a top team (as opposed to club) and the deficiencies are clear to all. However, I reckon Rodgers is due some credit as well as all the criticism he's had. So, my challenge to the major doubters (and you know who you are) is to post all the things you like about his tenure in this thread without any reference to the stuff you tell us about day after day that you don't like. If you can't do that after a 6-0 away win (no matter what you're facing as opposition) then I think it's a pretty poor show. So, over to you.

It is the summer, it is boring - so let's do a draft. Been chatting to Usher and he is up for doing a Current Premiership Draft. So that means you can pick any players who will be playing in the Premiership next season, as of today. Put your name down if you would like to play and say below if you think we should add any rules: So far: LFD Dave U

I've only ever started one match day thread before I think and that was Everton FA cup semi final, so I'm hoping for a similar result here. Same team as last time? Seems likely.

Shitting bricks just thinking about this one. We should turn them inside out, but this and the Sunderland game just look like banana skins now. The players must not be allowed to think like that though. All about focus, intensity and concentration. It'd be nice to see Suarez getting back to his superhuman levels from a couple of months ago too. Same team as Sunday for me, but back to 4-3-3. Come on!

The manager has been a slow burn for me. Initially I was skeptical about his appointment, thinking he was a flavour of the month manager appointment ala Hodgson previously. I also as a 39 year old Irish bullshitter, believed i saw similar traits in Brendan. Talks a good game... some success with a junior team, but not Liverpool material. Nonetheless - fully behind him since appointment and certainly believe that he has made significant progress since Christmas last year, in part boosted by signings of Countinho and Sturridge. I am know fully behind him, a lot of my earlier doubts and skepticism have been erased. i do believe he is learning on the job, b…

I don't care that we have a game later, I've been thinking about the cup final pretty much constantly so I am starting a thread. Who would you pick in the team? I think it's vital that we match Chelsea's three man midfield, as we would get dangerously overrun with just Spearing and Gerrard in there. So as much as I have defended Andy Carroll recently I think I'd start with him on the bench. Skrtel to come in for Carra, with Enrique at left back. I'd like Maxi and Bellamy to start, but I'm pretty sure Downing will be in there somewhere. ----------Reina Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique ----Henderson-Spearing---- Maxi------Gerrard-----Bellamy ----------Suarez …

International breaks are bad enough, but when Ireland don't have anything to play for, fuck me, just get it over with already. This Newcastle team is weird. I work with a fan and he says they blow hot and cold, not only weekly, but several times during a single match. For me, they seem to struggle when they can't counter attack against you, and when the other team counter attacks against them, so I think this game could suit us down to the ground. Sit tight, and pick them off. Looks like Johnson and Allen might be available again. 3-1.

As I am one of the few in favour for him to sign; and what feels like one of the few who has actually watched him outside Match of the Day. Have a read and view the videos. https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/3bjl5z/clearing_up_some_misconceptions_surrounding/

Zico has said he should stay and be the main man at Liverpool, not an also ran at Barca, but what do we think will happen? I can't see him going in January (with Champions League and cup ties it make no sense), and I would love to keep him in the summer because he's just getting better and better with a genuine end product with almost every display now. The conventional wisdom is that he is off in the summer. If he does go, how do we replace his goals and assists? If we want to keep him, what do we need to do? We can't change the climate, but would any other reassurances help?

This all seems to be dragging on a bit doesn’t it? Surely if was as cut and dried as the lip readers were saying on twttter then these allegations would have been thrown out by now? I’m getting worried that we’re about to have another of our very important South Americans get an 8 game ban for racism and screw up our season again.

I am glad to see Flanagan is getting the recognition he deserves right now. Gerrard, Rodgers and Sturridge have all reserved huge praise for the lad and I am delighted for him. Even Neville on Monday Night Football described him as a “big character”. I never really understood why he disappeared so fast from the first-team scene. He was drafted in at 18-years-old and, in my opinion, has had more good days than bad days in the red shirt. I can only think of a few games where he may have let us down – but I always assumed that even those bad experiences are good in a sense as they are opportunities to learn and grow from. A Premier League squad consists of 25 playe…

Here we go. Considering our first two home games are against Man City and Arsenal, there is a certain degree of pressure we get all three points here on Saturday. I am confident we will do that as well. Gerrard and Suarez seem to be in a good place at the moment, and I think we'll be too strong for the not really improved West Brom. Pepe Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique Lucas Allen Downing Gerrard Borini Suarez 0-2

Sounds like we are going to announce him tomorrow. Only seen him play a few times but I've spoke to a few mates and they seem to rate him in the Suarez, Reina, Agger, and Gerrard bracket in terms of quality. He was Bundesliga player of the year before his move to Real Madrid and if it's true that we have a view to a permanent move at the end of the season, this could prove to be a real coup by Rodgers and co. Great depth in midfield this season.

Right, I'm starting this now as I'm going to this and I have a good record in the cups when it come to starting threads. Just listening to both 5Live and Talk Sports analysis on the Arsenal/UTD game and they were both saying the same thing about Arsenal tonight in that they looked tired or dead on their feet. After tonight's result, our spirits and confidence should be sky high. Come on you mighty reds.

Looks like Sturridge will be fit which is a big plus. Rodgers needs to decide who to play at right back given Johnson is injured. He also has some decisions at centre back with Sakho signing, Toure fit again and Skrtel doing well vs United. I think I'd like to see Moses play ahead of Aspas. I'd go: ---------------------------------Mignolet------------------------------------- Toure--------------Skrtel-------------------Agger---------------Enrique Henderson--------Lucas------------------Gerrard----------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------Moses -----------------------------------Coutinho---------…

With Sturridge out what's our best line up. I'd like to see lallana come in and get a game so probably play a 4-3-3.
