I watched the Arsenal game tonight and flicked back and forth (ooh er!) to the Chelsea game. Both of them totally dominated their opposition (especially Arsenal). Arsenal have got several players who can make the telling pass and plenty who can beat a man and whip a ball in. When you think of the games of chess we have been subjected to here it makes a refreshing change to see a team go out and just totally demolish the opposition. I bet Wenger didn't even consider the way Braga play. They didn't contain them, they didn't bide their time or counter attack. They just went out and fucking battered them. 6-0. They scored their first goal in the first ten …

Only Villa are below us this summer and were quite far behind the other clubs we are meant to compete with for the CL spots. Are we setting our goals to high given our current financial situation? Obviously we have a decent squad compared to most other sides and has done some great deals in the transfer window to be honest, but what should we expect from this season? Source: The Swiss Ramble (Stoke is highlighted because it was a piece on their spending)

I'm a bit out of the loop as I'm over in Portugal, enjoying a week in Jose's gaff, so I want to know if all these rumours of Usher coming out are for real. Looks like Marca are pretty sure but the German papers are less sure. Some Dutch cunt is saying it isn't true in the Danish press but I hear he's implicated?

This from his Twitter account yesterday: "Huge cheer as Pulis walks out for 2nd half. Incredible devotion to Stoke on day his mother passed away." And this from Oct 6th 2009: '"Does it matter that this footballing obsessive seems to show no interest in his players as human beings? After all, this is the manager who stayed on for the 2005 Club World Championship in Tokyo despite learning that his father had passed away back in Spain" Now I'm not posting this to debate the rights and wrongs of the management of Rafa Benitez; simply to highlight the hypocrisy and agenda-driven drivel used by many journalists today. Whether it's due to tribalism, a personal d…

The GF is my home of homes. And very helpfull it is. So you say something you need to get of your chest and it stays in this thread. Has to be Footy related though ill start. NO NEGS ALLOWED BY THE WAY. I'd be gutted if the Mancs went bust. As the joy of playing them would be lost. There isn't a better feeling in football than playing the Mancs.

Hey guys, I've been a member of the forum for the last five or six years but don't post to often as it's usually in work that I view the forums but can't log on. Anyway I'm getting married this day two weeks and was trying to think of a gift to get my best man who is a massive Liverpool fan and the person I go to most games with. The only thing I can think of really is getting him some signed memorabilia - i know it's a rip off but I actually don't mind paying as it's a once in a lifetime situation. He already has signed Cara and Gerrard jerseys which we got in person so I know a pruchased one won't have the same effect but still a nice gift all the same. Ideally i…

I'm commentating on Stoke vs Villa tomorrow and I find myself looking through the Villa squad. I see Eric Lichaj is in the squad, but I've never heard of him before and I've no idea how to pronounce his name. Can anyone help me please?

OK let's see what team people would like to see this weekend. Cole is suspended and Kuyt plus Aurelio are injured. Although our best player so far this season - in my opinion is available in Ngog... having said that I wouldn't start him. I think Babel deserves a game, as he has looked sharp the few times we have seen him used and Jovanovic hasn't had a particular good time the last few games. I don't really like him on the left, but I would select him given Cole is unavailable. However I would be tempted to play Pacheco on the left - or certainly give him some minutes off the bench. Torres should be fully fit after not playing Spains last game and with Cole…

One of the best things about this forum for me is the fact it feels possible to post contentious opinions again without having to run the gauntlet of the hysteria of the mefferati on the FF. One such issue that I've largely stayed out of over there is the way the likes of Broughton, Ayre and especially Purslow are regarded by many fans. I have never seen anything other than hearsay or one-sided accounts of events to justify the way they are regarded. So I wonder if we could have the debate on here? I'm especially conscious of the fact that people like aws and Jose Jones that I regard as exceptionally knowledgeable Reds, are routinely dropping allusions to the way we a…

Looks increasingly likely that Poulsen will arrive shirtly as a replacement for Mascherano. Danish media are reporting 6m euro and that his agent is in Liverpool for talks on personal terms. What do you reckon? (I hope it's not being discussed in this forum already)

I need a bit of greater good moral boosting or something like that shit to tell this mate of mine, I can't ask anyone else as i don't know who knows who in the hick area that is north Wales. on to the tale... I know most of you are aware that i've got this mate whose had a pretty rough past, well it looks like it's all coming out in to the light and it's making her feel rather wobbly. She got a phone call yesterday from a girl in a village she used to live in saying the police were looking for her. Turns out CID are wanting to speak to her and several other family members. A number of complaints have been made about the abuse perpetrated by a relative and t…

We can all agree we had a disappointing end to the transer window last night, but when you have time to sit down and think about it and if you manage to focus on our on the pitch situation instead of our overall mess I actually think there are reasons to be optimistic. If you are asked to narrow down our main problems on the pitch last season to 3 things, what would they be and have we done anything during the summer to solve this problem? I guess this comes down to how you see things but it could be Insua`s ability to defend and our lack of ability to defend set pieces through lack of height in our team, it could be the similarities beween our CM`s and them not r…

Now that the dust has settled after another abysmal performance would anyone like to tell me when we have played 4 such appaling league games on the trot because I certainly cant remember. Never under Rafa, possilby under Houllier but we won them which makes you forget but i dont even think under Souness I can remember us playing 4 such terrible games on the trot. Also how do you see this actually getting any better because I cant. I think there are already serious signs in players attitudes like Torres today that all is not well. So without descendng into carnage lets actually debate this sensibly

I posted this on the TNF but thought the MF may have some insight too... Someone in work has had a letter from a firm called ACS law asking them to pay £400 for a song downloaded just over a year ago. I know the legislation came in about ISPs providing details to record labels etc on the 6th June, but this letter says that the case was taken to court in November. The letter also looks suspiciously fraudulent. I have the exact copy that came through the post and it doesn't look like a letter that would come through from a legal firm. First off it's a photocopy, and they've even left the paperclip on when photocopying it. One or two bits have also been scri…

Might as well get a thread going about Mascherano. It's looking increasingly likely that he will leave, probably when Balotelli moves to City. Some interesting article from Il Corriere dello Sport today, though. Inter have opened talks with Liverpool about the prospect of signing Javier Mascherano, according to Il Corriere dello Sport. Earlier this summer, the Argentina international revealed via his agent that it would be a dream to play for a prestigious club like Inter. Il Corriere understands that Inter first made contact two weeks ago and Eduardo Macia only got back in touch yesterday evening. Macia was Rafael Benitez's right-hand man at Liverpool…

"He said 'go on son, you're in a better position than me, see if you can give us the lead Steven'" "He puts him through and says "go on son, get your first of the season, rifle it in" and he does" "He's saying 'Come on keeper, lets see which way you're going, because whichever way it is, I'm putting it the other way' and he does" Did this occur when Andy was actually playing football? He gave details instructions to players who he gave the football too. It's his most annoying trait
