Another nerdy thread to lighten the mood. Hopefully self explanatory. I’ll open the batting with “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe”

Me and the Mrs are polar opposites. She tires easily at night but is up with the larks. I need a defibrillator to get me up before 8am and am generally fucked up until about half nine. My appetite and brain don't kick in until around then. I'm wide awake late evening though and I ideally like to stay up late watching telly. My ideal body clock cycle is probably bed at 1am and up at 10am, but with work I force myself to go up about half ten and eventually drift off. A mate told me once, dunno if it's true, that this is an evolutionary thing to ensure someone was always awake around the campfire, that we're always either one or the other.

Who would you sit with? Buy a pint? No way I'm taking a pint off Shipman Gacy was a complete cunt he can fuck off. I like Dharmar. Seems a decent bloke. Apart from the bumming, drilling, killing, dissolving and eating, seems OK and said sorry.

We usually have one for each season, @Allan kept it going. The scheduling has gone to shit now. They’re only doing six episodes per series for Comedy Central and they’ve been given big money by Paramount for doing specials a few times a year. The last special was a live concert in Colorado doing all the South Park songs from down the years. It was a boss show. Any fans of the show should definitely seek it out. Anyway, there’s a new special out at the end of the month. https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/south-park-exclusive-event-joining-the-panderverse-paramount-plus-streaming-1235752140/amp/

Another country where racists seem to be the majority. The fuckers are everywhere. A sad day for the Aboriginal people. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/oct/14/indigenous-australians-grapple-with-gut-wrenching-result-but-pledge-to-keep-fighting?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

You've got the full works on your plate and you can't fit everything on your toast, what takes priority. Select all that apply.

Not the most joyous of subjects admittedly but I do find people's choices interesting. My aunt's funeral is on 26th and she'll be carried out to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road which is going to absolutely destroy me. I reckon I'd probably go with something like The Damned's Wait For the Blackout.

The GF has been pretty grim rancorous reading lately so I thought why not another nerdy song thread to lighten the mood ? I did think of Watching the Detectives but she’s watching a genre not a specific programme (still a great song though). Instead I am opening the batting with Kiss by Prince that mentions Dynasty.

This could probably gone into many other threads but it is something that hits me whenever I hear a sirens voice. Not necessarily the most beautiful women but ones that when they sing or speak it moves something. A few who are not beauties for instance like Alison Moyet, Jess Glynne. They sound beautiful and would tempt me in. Even Doctor Sarah Jarvis on BBC 2 get me a bit heated. Then you have Belinda Carlisle and Susanna Hoffs who I only have to hear them sing a single note and I am gone. Is this a male instinct to be attracted to a sweet voice or just a dick thing?

As a balance to the likeable people thread; this isn't for people who do terrible things, like Hitler or Fred West, it's for people who are basically harmless but universally loathed. James Corden is an obvious one. I surely wasn't the only one who was secretly relieved when he was acting the cunt in a restaurant a while back. He's a bog standard celebrity who should be easy to ignore, but he just inspires murderous rage in everyone.

Was listening to the radio on the way to or from work the other day and this was the call-in question, so I can't take credit for such a great subject. I'll start and for me it's The Matrix. Went into the cinema with no idea of what to expect and 2 and a bit hours later I'm walking out with my head full of false expectations of what I could do if I learned Kung Fu whilst listening to a Prodigy set in a club full of goths dressed in leather. You don't get loads of films that become templates for the following generation of movies but this is one. Now I hand it over to you chumps, if you could go back and watch a movie for the first time again, whic…

Had my car insurance with them and when it came time for renewal their quote was high so I went elsewhere. A month before it was due to expire I went on the website to make sure it wasn't set to auto renew. It was. There was no option to change that on their website (wonder why) and it suggested using the live chat. I did, and all I got was some automated bollocks that wasted 10 minutes before saying I needed to ring up. So I rang, and waited. And waited. And then I hung up. I tried this again a couple of days later, same thing happened. So I searched for an email address but there wasn't any made available to customers. I've chat or phone, neither…

Misophonia is a disorder in which certain sounds trigger emotional or physiological responses that some might perceive as unreasonable given the circumstance. Those who have misophonia might describe it as when a sound “drives you crazy.” Their reactions can range from anger and annoyance to panic and the need to flee. Example: Getting angered by someone chewing loudly. The sound of peoples lips smacking drives me up the wall, uncontrollable rage builds in me. I've had to stop a taxi once and get out nowhere near my destination because the driver was chewing gum really fucking loudly. The dirty bastard She's got Loose Women on and they're talking…

So yesterday I spent the day with my daughter, she's just started out at Liverpool uni and I've separated from my wife . I now live a 20 min train ride from her uni , so other than the horrible wrench of leaving the family home of 20 years at least I get 1 day a week that I wouldn't if I still lived on the Iom Driving back to Liverpool yesterday in the pouring rain , she turned to me and told me she is gay . Not in those exact words, because they're obviously very private to the two of us ( yes I see the irony ) So I'm a little bit shocked , but not in a bad way we both shed a tear or two when I stopped the van , but I think we both handled it pretty well…
