Kop boss is masterminding Dalglish-like challenge for title Video RAFA BENITEZ - intense RAFA BENITEZ - intense By CHRIS BASCOMBE, 27/12/2008 IF LIVERPOOL win the league, nostalgic recollections of Kenny Dalglish holding aloft the Premier League trophy at Anfield will be inescapable. It was the Kop legend who was in charge when Liverpool lost won the title back in 1990. But a title surge for Rafa Benitez’s team will have more in common with the Dalglish of Blackburn Rovers — when he expertly guided a ruthlessly efficient but unspectacular side to glory in 1995 – claiming a last-day triumph on Merseyside. The parallels are evident. A couple of expensive…

Last threads been nothing but a bad omen and gives me a heart palpitation any time I see it on the first page. So with his impending return this month, let this thread bring him and us better luck.

Well, some cunt had to start it. This feels weird, because most previous transfer windows have ended in nervousness and disgruntlement; the kind of thing that has us yearning for the next window. Summer 2018 hasn't been like that. Still... Any thoughts?

I am a long way from wanting it to happen but I know a few on here are getting restless and there is a story on the bbc gossip pages (probably bullshit) about the owners getting twitchy with our form. If they did jump the gun and sack him who realistically would you want in? Hiddink is having a mare with the dutch team but I've always rated him especially at club level and he would probably be my first realistic choice Simeone second. I think he is a right cunt but he is a great manager. Likely he wont fancy the challenge of us when the City job will probably be avaialable. Klopp - shit season in the Bundesliga with Dortmund. Still a class act. In-f…

Before we can expect anything else than the usual nothing peformances from him? He needs to go on loan to a club who fits his level, he is not good enough if we wants to achieve something at the moment.

Liverpool FEAR Manchester United will hijack move for Southampton star Adam Lallana LIVERPOOL are hoping to clinch a deal for Adam Lallana soon as they fear Manchester United will hijack their interest. The Reds have been linked with a £20million bid for the Southampton ace who has been a standout performer in the Premier League this season. Roy Hodgson has urged clubs to get their business done soon, so as not to distract the players during the World Cup. Indeed, Liverpool are looking to offload as many as 12 players during the summer as they seek to strengthen a squad that will make them good enough to compete in the Champions League. However, fresh reports …

Hypothetically say we lose to Arsenal at the Emirates and both Southampton and Spurs leapfrog us based on their easy run of fixtures in the league. Say we get knocked out of the FA cup by Blackburn / Aston Villa or we made it to Wembley but lost in the final to Arsenal. Would you want Rodgers to stay at the end of the season after finishing in 7th place with no trophy?

I know everyone's panicking/ not panicking/ about that big lump Andy Carroll, and it is an interesting and valid debate. But have we chatted much about Jordan Henderson? I think out of all our big recruits he was the one I simply couldn't work out; how good he is, where he should play, what his strengths are, was he worth the money. Did we need him? Of all of them, I had a feeling his start this season would be one that had more than a few people scratching their heads. Now obviously it's very early days, but I think I was bemused with good reason. It's obvious that Adam, Enrique and Downing are what they are: decent footballers who know how to play CM, LW and…

I think this forum needs a GF style amnesty thread. This is a safe haven for those who have "unsavoury" opinions, where they can admit to an opinion and not face criticism or negging (any reported negging on this thread will be dealt with swiftly and harshly by the forum powerneggers). Mild alarm and surprise is accepted. So come on, who secretly thinks Ferguson is actually a decent bloke, that Torres is overrated or that our owners are actually quite good. Let's have it. I can start with the fact that I think the new Everton home shirt is pretty nice.

On the taxi home yesterday I was thinking about everything, SOS, the club, Rafa, Parry and Hicks We all know Hicks and Benitez are friends now, and they both share the common goal of getting Parry out, for the same reason, control. If Hicks gets Parry out, he gets control of the club, if Benitez gets Parry out he gets control of the transfers if he believes Hicks. It seems to me Benitez is once again, playing with the fans, and using us against Parry. We all know Parry is the biggest cunt in the world, but hear me out, if he is the one keeping the Yanks from getting a hold of this club, then I want him in there. I've hit a brick wall with the whole ownership thing…

Surprised that there is no thread for this yet ( just odd ones about England injuries & Ferdinand ). Don't remember such a low-key lead up to a tournament for many years. Should be some decent games however with Germany/Holland & Portugal all in one group & Spain/Italy in one & England / France in another. Think France might be worth a dabble ( I am on them at 14's but they are in to 10/1 now ) & I think England will go out in the quarters. Looking forward to seeing some players in more depth ( M'Vila / Lewandoski / Dzagoev / Gotze / Eriksen amongst others) Anybody looking forward to this ?

Wtf is that all about, really don't get that... Doesn't he believe in his ability at a club like ours or seems to think that it's like a fucking soap opera and opted against it. Bizarre.

Hahahaha! Are you any closer to a title tilt then? Is the project not as big? Good to see you've dyed your hair in a desparate attempt to capture former glories.

Reds seek to raise £35m from sales - Liverpool FC Liverpool are seeking to raise £35 million from summer sales. The Reds boss Rafa Benitez has put £17m Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani up for sale after just one injury-hit season, along with Holland forward Ryan Babel, French striker David Ngog and Moroccan winger Nabil El Zhar. The agents working for Benitez are looking for big prices, which is making it hard to shift the club's dead wood. Italian clubs are being tipped off that Aquilani can return to Serie A, but he will cost close to £15m. Babel is also available if anyone is willing to part with a whopping £10m for the Dutchman. Ngog, a wil…

Basically, you post things you happen to think, but that you're not usually too keen to broadcast on the rest of the forum, without the threat of reprisal, judgement or tarring. Just to clarify, breaking of amnesty is, according to the GF constitution, a very serious crime and will be dealt with the fury of God's own thunder. I still think Johnson is quality. I think letting Spearing and Shelvey go was a mistake. I don't like having Dalglish as a non-executive director. It seems largely symbolic and totally beneath him. I don't rate Kolo Toure. Over to you.
