Awesome display yesterday. He is my favourite player but I have said before I find it hard to see him and Gerrard as a partnership unless Xabi can be successful as a holding midfielder. He certainly seems to have got 'harder' this season and definitely stronger in the tackle. Long may it continue and maybe we will have the best central midfield in Europe before long!

that they'll be more tails of raining shit on Toffeeweb after the derby - just wondering who's idea it was to put away fans under home fans in the first place? Maybe they should apologise next time.

Former Liverpool youth left-back Calum Woods will sign a two-year contract with Dunfermline Athletic on Wednesday. Woods has impressed on trial during the Pars' pre-season matches. Fellow 19-year-old Sean Murdoch has agreed a two-year extension to his Pars contract but is likely to be farmed out on loan in the coming season. But Dunfermline have yet to reach agreement with former Bradford City midfielder Owen Morrison, who has also impressed Pars boss Jim Leishman. Leishman is, though, hopeful of concluding negotiations with former Den Haag goalkeeper Dorus de Vries. He has targeted two players, one from Portugal and another from the Netherlands, after…

The one where someone (possibly Carra) is in the background doing the squeaky voiced "Ello Robbie! There's Robbie Fowler!" Anyone remember it? Can't find it anywhere.

Not sure what the ticket situation is tomorrow so may be there are loads of spares about. Anyhow my ticket is available in Centenary if anyone is interested. I won't be around so will have to meet my mate outside the red doors in the Centenary stand before the match.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has spoken of his joy of being a part of European action again after playing a major role in Liverpool’s 4-1 victory against Genk. The Champions League was where his Reds career was put on hold 18 months ago after sustaining a serious knee ligament injury against Roma.So began a gruelling rehabilitation process and the frustration of spending time in the sidelines while his teammates were making major progress on the pitch. To the midfielder’s great credit, his attitude was first class throughout and got his due rewards on Wednesday evening when he scored two goals in Liverpool’s first away group stage victory in two seasons. The Official site (via BT…

Jürgen Klopp has hailed the resilience and intelligence of his side after Liverpool passed a searching test against RB Salzburg on Tuesday. Two goals in as many minutes just before the hour mark by Naby Keita and a brilliant Mo Salah finish were enough for the Reds to progress to the knockout stages. While the result may look routine in the record books in the years ahead, it was anything but as the visitors had to be at their defensive best to keep a clean sheet against their high octane opponents. What would have undoubtedly impressed Klopp the most was that his side were able to get the job done once again in a pressurised situation.A loss in this fixture would have meant…

Hi, we're asking for contributions from TLW users to the debate program airing next Monday: The Great Debate returns to LFC TV on Monday night at 9pm and this time we want to know what was the greatest decade on the pitch for the Reds - the Seventies or the Eighties? The Sixties might have seen Bill Shankly rebuild the club and lead the Reds to FA Cup glory while the Noughties have already seen Gerard Houllier and Rafael Benitez land 10 trophies between them but neither decade can touch the Seventies and Eighties for sheer footballing domination. Now we want you, the supporters, to decide whether it's the Seventies or the Eighties that can lay claim to being the b…

I know it's a long shot, but anyone got a spare for the Stoke game?
Last reply by Kowalski, -
Thing with Rick Parry is that he only holds 12 shares so ultimately his view is almost egligable despite him being Chief Exec. But I do believe that all the directors are fully supportive of Houllier because htey are not short sighted like some "supporters/fans" are.

I wanted to post this last week but i waited until the title was lost. Next year is going to be a big year for us and the team. The expectations are big (as they should be) and we have to deliver. But next season will not be won with 38 wins. We wont get 114 points. So remember, when we lose, chill out, when we have a drab draw, chill out, when we win very unconvincingly, chill out. We were only 4 points off the top this year (assuming we win our remaining games) The team and the manager know how we lost them 4 points (and more). And they'll want to change that next year. But that dismal spell this year wasnt just down to them. As fans, we were awf…

Aquilani, twenty million pound signing. So far, conspicuous by his absence. Former boss stated he is made of Swarovski crystal. He’s that precious, or is he so breakable. He hasn’t properly started yet to say but am going to wait. I am used to it. Bragging rights. First goal might have been deflected. The Argentinean though still ran madly the length of the pitch and for a moment he must have forgot about Barcelona. And then the Dutch workhorse added another. The underclass of Merseyside were put in their place and bragging rights in the city for 2009 were secured. Close, how closer can you get? 86 points, 77 goals, just 2 defeats. It’s excruciating th…

Gerrard talking on .tv "Now others will surely start accepting that he is definitely at the same level as John Terry and England's other outstanding central defenders. "He was always a good defender, but he's added a lot to his game this season. There's a confidence, experience and maturity about how he plays now. As well as defending so well, he looks to bring the ball out and set up attacks. "That's the confidence you get from maintaining high standards. You can move up from the back and try things that maybe you wouldn't have attempted before. "You are seeing that from Carra, and he has won our player of the year hands down."

by Dave Usher for ESPN “Absolutely clueless,” tweeted a cryptic Glen Johnson shortly after Liverpool’s embarrassing late capitulation against Crystal Palace at Selhurst park on Monday night. It caused an immediate stir on social media. Who was he referring to? Could it have been a collective assessment of his team’s failure to secure the three points they needed, despite leading 3-0 with a little more than 10 minutes remaining? Maybe it was a jibe at former teammate Jamie Carragher, who along with fellow Sky Sports analyst Gary Neville, was fairly scathing of Liverpool’s defensive display. Perhaps, and this was a real long shot, it was a brutally honest assessment…

Joe Gomez has opened up on the toll that injuries have taken on his mindset throughout his Liverpool career. The central defender came to the club in June of 2015 from Charlton when Brendan Rodgers was still the man in charge for the bargain basement fee in todays Football landscape of £3.5 million. The following eight seasons have been littered with euphoric highs and excruciating lows for the 26 year- old. With the departure of Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and James Milner this summer, Gomez takes the mantle of longest serving player in the current squad. In those eight completed campaigns, Gomez has made 174 appearan…
