I've just realised how many quality forumites are not ST holders. Let me sell it to you: we get our own cunt-free forum that is starting to take shape nicely. The football debate in there is (weird, I know) reasoned, reasonable, passionate and engaging. There's no bickering or abuse, no repetitive and dull threads where everyone says the same thing over and over again and generally a level of ownership that has been missing from the FF for years. You can also debate other stuff too, if you like. It really does feel like the forum used to feel back in the day. It's two quid a month, people. Not earth shattering by any means for the hours of entertainment many of you ge…

Righto, might not be the biggest news to many, but this will be everything to my little girl and there’s every likelihood the next 12 months will have some shit in them, so - in addition to me putting my name in the had through the club registration, and me asking the fella I sit next to to do the same, if anyone at all has any inside contacts that could possibly pull a string or two to help smooth a route to tickets, could they just keep me in mind. cheers, that’s all.

Really heartbreaking story. One of my closest friends lost her brother last week and is obviously absolutely devastated. He has 2 young kids (age 4 and 7). I was talking to her yesterday and she was in tears telling me how they'd broken the terrible news to the children, specifically the 7 year old. I asked how he'd taken it and what he'd said and, still in tears, she told me the kid had replied "Can I have his phone?" I don't think I've ever struggled so hard to keep a straight face.

Listened to this Guardian Podcast before : Guardian Focus Podcast: Examining the British far right | World news | guardian.co.uk In England the far right seem a bit of a joke, I can't ever see the BNP or EDL taking off seriously. But in the likes of France and the Netherlands, it looks like it is gathering more support. And unlike Nick Griffin, I get the impression a lot of people in, say, France see the likes of Marine Le Pen as a credible politician. So, what do you think of it then? Where is it going to end? Will we see another openly fascist country in Europe anytime soon?

1988 – The Dollywood Foundation Parton originally launched the organization in her home county of Sevier County, Tennessee, with the goal of decreasing high school drop out rates. It's gonna kick the fuck off again. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/04/12/europe/ukraine-zelensky-front-lines/index.html Ukraine's President heads to the trenches as Russia masses its troops EXCLUSIVE by Matthew Chance, CNN Updated 1152 GMT (1952 HKT) April 12, 2021 On the front lines in eastern Ukraine (CNN)Ankle-deep in thick black sludge, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky moves stealthily with his troops in single file through the warren of trenches and tunnels that form the tense front lines in the east of his country. It feels more like the early 20th century than a modern conflict, with tired, nervous …

My ex's mate in her divine wisdom decided to try and stage a fraudulent insurance injury claim by making up a car accident. Apparently she knew someone who did this and it was fool proof. So she phoned up her insurance company to tell them about the crash she was inventing, cutting a slightly longer story short....... Car Insurance: "ok miss H, can you tell us what happened exactly ?" Miss H: well I was rolling up to the traffic lights and went straight into the back of the car in front of me " Car Insurance: "right, then that means you're liable and cannot claim, if you go into the back of another car you're liable" Miss H "er, oh, ok". Miss H now has to conti…

So what do you think about the start to the new seies, Hoddy? I'm loving the political machinations with Burrell getting manipulated all over the place and Rawls as the new (and very unpopular) Deputy Opps. It feels like another slow-burning classic with Cheese gaining a bigger role, Avon on his way out of slam, Omar great as ever and Greggs turning into a female McNulty by the second. Gotta love the "Put kids off violence by autopsy" route to keeping the streets clean, too. I've seen the first two episodes and it already feels even better than Season Two. Oh, by the way - did you see The West Wing has been canned? Season 7 is the last one. Also, did you know th…

My son, Jamie, who some of you have met, is training to run the London Marathon on Sunday 21 April. His first. He is fundraising for a number of great causes. I don’t know if I’ve exhausted the goodwill of the very generous people of this place but in the spirit of ‘if you don’t ask you won’t get’ I decided to share his page and if anyone would like to chip in I know he’ll be really chuffed. Thanks in advance https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/james-plattssmith?utm_term=AXJXrKGAz

Started reading this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-41224146 Then went onto this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-38761068 I need advice on how to process this. Is transgender a thing? Is it totally a synthetic idea made by gay people who want to change the way they look? It seems at odds with so much of nature for it to be a natural thing? Being gay is different, I get that, but wanting to change your gender just seems like 'gay plus', more a fetish-based request than a genuine 'mistake' made by 'God' that needs rectifying. And then there are people with 'fluid gender'. I'm veering towards the 'this is bollocks' side of …

There doesn't seem to be an American Politics thread that deals with the stuff separate to Trump, so I thought I'd create one. This has been making me chuckle over the last week.

It’s time we upped sticks and let the 2022 thread die. It’s never been more exciting to be a fan of the sweet science. Anthony Joshua is fighting Ngannou tonight and it’s just been announced that 57 year-old Mike Tyson is fighting that YouTube knobhead, Jake Paul, steamed live on Netflix. Seriously. This is the golden age.

During the height of The Equalizer's popularity, actor Edward Woodward was often approached on the street by people in need, with situations similar to those depicted in the show. He began carrying flyers with the phone numbers of social services organizations and legal clinics for them to contact.

Americans - Season 2 Epis 1+2 have been a but sloppy. I enjoyed season 1, but so far this is a 6.5/10. Hannibal - Season 2 I started off not loving the first season, but I went back to it and I was really glad I did. It finished off at around 7.5/10. Season 2 is better: it's worth a solid 8/10.

Patel has managed to become the most vile cunt over Mogg, Gove, Johnson and Hancock. McVey held the title before she was binned. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/philip-rutnam-resigns-priti-patel-bullying-allegations-home-office-latest-a9366126.html My hatred for this vile fake bastard is sky high. The arrogant cunt. Blows my mind that working class people voted for this shower. Has the Tory front-line ever been as bad?

In my case it's people who hold conversations in doorways then glare at you when you need to pass, or the person who stations their shopping trolley at the counter blocking off everyone else, the shopkeeper who holds your change whilst they are talking to someone else and you have to stand there like a lemon, when i'm in a queue why does it proceed in an orderly fashion until it gets to me, then the person before me has a time consuming problem.

As a counter-balance to the other "Little things" thread, what stuff is guaranteed to make you smile or give you a bit of a lift for a few minutes? I'll start with buskers playing unexpected song-choices. There was a bloke in town last week doing eclectic stuff like Alabama Song and The Man in Me. What's not to love?
