Monday Mar 18: Trying to avoid the fallout from yesterday as I’m still angry and gutted about it. As I said in the match report, I’ve made peace with being out of the cup, as winning everything was always going to be a tall order and this was bottom of the wish list for most of us. It’s getting beat by them that stings, and specifically the manner of it. It’s not so much about us losing that way, it’s about them winning that way and the joy it brought them. Their joy bothers me far more than our disappointment. I fucking hate the idea that they went home happy, those tragedy chanting cunts didn’t deserve a happy ending but we gave it to them anyway. …

Thought I'd start a thread on this as a few of you have asked about it. Basically, anyone who has an active subscription should not be seeing any ads at all on the site (other than in house ones for t-shirts etc). Subscribers are ad free, so if you are seeing them it's because of the theme you have selected. Go to the bottom of the page and select TLW Subscribers theme. When that's selected you shouldn't be getting any ads showing. If your sub runs out you'll start seeing them and they won't automatically go when you renew, you'll need to scroll down and re-select the TLW Subscribers theme again. Any problems, either post in here or sen…

I know very little about the fella, but by all accounts (including many supposedly in the know) he just might be our next manager. Good things I’ve read; 1. - He won the league with Sporting Lisbon who are traditionally Portugal’s third strongest team in 2022, and he is on track to do it again this season. Bad things I’ve read; 1. He’s big mates with Mourinho. Anyway, some relevant shit on his coaching ability:

I often find that the latest injury news gets buried in the match threads or in threads about individual players....So I thought a thread dedicated to the latest situation on our players with injuries might be a decent idea. Hopefully the forum server has enough bandwidth to cope.... So as it stands.... Luis Diaz: Knee Injury Oct 11: 'Six to eight weeks, we will see. He looks like a quick healer, but we will see. Could have been worse.' Potential Return 26/12/2022 Joel Matip: Calf/Shin/Heel Injury Further Detail Oct 21: 'Everything is going w…

After our midweek stop at Wigan to check in on the excellent progress of Luke Chambers, TLW heads to Yorkshire to see how Fabio Carvalho is coming along at Hull City. There is little doubt that the Portuguese U21 international has natural flair and talent, but for him it has been all about putting that together consistently. It is something that the attacking midfielder was able to do during the 2021/22 season with Fulham where he played a major part in their promotion to the Premier League and was a member of the PFA Championship Team of the Year. A move to Liverpool then eventuated and after a positive start highlighted by a dramatic …

LIverpool reject £40 million bid from Chelsea for striker Fernando Torres Liverpool have confirmed that they have rejected a £40 million bid for striker Fernando Torres. Rebuffed: LIverpool have rejected a £40 million bid from Chelsea for striker Fernando Torres Photo: GETTY IMAGESBy Telegraph staff 11:17PM GMT 27 Jan 2011 The Spanish international has been linked with a host of clubs over the past 12 months, including Manchester City and Barcelona, but Chelsea have made the first move. A Liverpool spokesman said last night: "Chelsea have made an offer for Fernando, which has been rejected. The player is not for sale." Premier League champions Chelsea ar…

I'd like something decided by end of 2011 to be honest so we can get on with building/refurbishing the bloody thing transfer window out of the window, now let's make a final decision on the stadium before the next transfer window i think they are probably still negotiating a naming rights deal with someone and we will most likely announce we are moving to a new 65,000 stadium but i don't want it to drag on and on and on so i ask you ...when are we likely to get definitive stadium news?

Work-rate. Incisiveness. Nous. I don't ask for much. This is how it's gonna be. Build from the ground up. Note the kick-off time. Also note that the clocks go forward by 1 hour on Sunday. It's all club football now until the end of the season following the latest needless international break. I understand that international coaches want to have time with their players as they plan their squads for the Euros, but these games are usually a mish-mash with loads of players dropping out, others getting a game due to recent form/hype, and the debut of a new kit or two. More importantly, these games come at exactly the point where clubs look t…

Examples of the utter shitness of modern football are innumerable. The most recent example is the "Ronaldo v Messi" friendly at old shitford last night, where thousands of willing imbeciles queued up to be gleefully fleeced of fifty quid to watch a pointless friendly, marketed as a footballing masterclass, but in reality was a kick-about by 22 millionaires, the two richest of whom were subbed at half time much to the collective disappointment and outrage of said imbeciles. Fuck off.

So...I can imagine there will be some eyes rolling and some veins bulging from some as they shout "Thiago was twice the player Keita was, he was a joy to watch" and so on... Who was or is the better footballer is not the question here - if it was the answer would of course be Thiago...That is beyond any reasonable doubt. But who actually contributed more for our club, who influenced things more, who had the better career all things considered with us is what I am asking here.... For my money it is close, very close - both of course massively underwhelmed, primarily of course due to both missing such large amounts of football in their time with us due to injuries. Some…

Joe Gomez has spoken about his overall pride in being recalled to an England squad for the first time in over three years. The Liverpool defender has become one of the most versatile and dependable members of Jurgen Klopp’s squad this season, filling in across the back four and at times even in midfield. With a number of senior departures last season Gomez is the longest serving member of this squad, and the 26 year-old’s Liverpool’s journey has been littered with euphoric highs and crippling lows. International friendlies have a stigma of being somewhat unnecessary to the everyday fan, especially when you take into account the alread…

Former referee Mark Halsey has spoken about the diminishing levels of referee standards in English football. The 59 year-old who retired in 2013 after 14 seasons as a Premier League referee is now a close observer of the whistle blowers and does not like what he sees. The Daily Star reported Halsey as saying: “I hate to criticise fellow colleagues but over the last six to seven years the standard is dropping alarmingly, at all levels. “We have some great referees out there at the top, and I think Michael Oliver is by far our best referee; Martin Atkinson, Mike Dean, they are experienced guys and they are good referees. …
