Still basking in the glow of yesterday and soaking up all the content. As much as I’m loving the stuff about us, I can’t lie, the United meltdown is entertaining as fuck too. Some of them are so deluded it’s untrue. Non e more than Gary Neville who embarrassed himself yet again yesterday. Carra spent the entire afternoon either goading him or pulling all manner of faces as he listened to the absolute wham Neville was coming out with.
Any United fan still thinking that Hag needs time and could turn things around is not paying attention. He’s shit. United are shit. They were genuinely lucky to finish 8th last season, and that’s not just me being biased, ask any stat nerd about how the numbers reflect their performance and they were a bottom half team in almost every metric. They’re a badly coached team, the only people who can’t see that are some United fans.
There’s a clip doing the rounds where a journalist (Ian Layman) put that to him and Hag tried to be a smart arse and asked for examples of mistakes they keep making, and it made for some hilarious viewing as Layman took a deep breath and then just reeled off a long list of failings. Hag was completely unprepared for it and was just stammering gibberish like “are you sure?” and “I feel sorry for you”. Not one word of it was unfair though.
He’s so far in over his head that his chrome dome looks like a big pebble at the bottom of the pool, but as long as there are “United superfans” defending him and calling for him to get more time, he can continue on wasting money on shite struggling to finish in the top six, so that’s good for the rest of us. Take away the Busby and Ferguson eras and United are basically Newcastle.
Chiesa is training with the u21s after not being called up by Italy. Makes sense of course, but you never know because a lot of international managers are dicks. He hasn’t played since pre-season and he’s just moved to a new league in a new country, so the smart thing to do is to let him stay here, especially because there’s a specific fitness plan to get him ready to play ASAP. Thankfully Spalleti was happy to go along with that. He wasn’t going to play for Italy but he was going to be called up because he’s important for them and they wanted him around the squad. Common sense prevailed for once though and now next week Chiesa will have time working with Slot (and Darwin) which should be invaluable for all of them with all the games we’ve got coming up.
