That was the Week that Was (Nov 18-22 2024)

    wtwheader.jpg

Monday Nov 18:

Another assist for Doak and a stoppage time winner for Robbo as Scotland won in Poland. Bradley scored for Northern Ireland too, although they blew a 2-0 lead to draw in Luxembourg. I had a look at that group table as I was honestly wondering if that’s the first point Luxembourg had ever picked up. Turns out they have three now just in THIS group, let alone whatever they may have done in previous years. Not gonna lie, that blew my mind. That’s actually pretty impressive for a tiny country like that. It got me thinking though, have they ever won a game against someone other than the likes of San Marino or the Faroes? So I checked, and I was shocked.

Get this; in their last Nations League campaign two years ago they played six, won three, drew twice and only lost one game. Their group was Turkey, Lithuania and the Faroe Islands, which means they must have had a draw and a win against Turkey and Lithuania. Is that not really shocking or is it just me? The campaign before that, they played six, won three, drew one and lost two in a group containing Montenegro, Azerbaijan and Cyprus. So my take away is that the Nations League is clearly dogshit, but it’s great for tiny countries like Luxembourg who have spent their entire existence previously getting fucking spanked in World Cup and Euro qualifiers.

So then I checked the World Cup qualifying results to confirm…. Kinell!! Wrong again. They finished third in a six team group having won five of their ten games. What’s going on here, how is this not getting more recognition? They finished above Iceland, Bosnia and Herzogovina and… aaaahhhhhh, Liechtenstein!! That’s when it hit me. I was confusing Luxembourg with Liechenstein. That was a waste of five minutes of research. Also a waste of your time reading it, but it’s an international break with not much happening, what do you want from me?

I commented on those comments from Robertson to Salah earlier.

How many times have we not seen people having a go at Salah because he has been smiling after missing chances or dne something really poor.

The argument has aleays been that ge does not care.

Hopefully that interview puts a stop to the stupidity.

Don't think I've ever seen anyone say he doesn't care. You're swinging at ghosts there Frode.

Re Nov22, with their constant frivolous litigation City are going the Donald Trump route, but instead of being an amoral orange cunt they are a gaggle of amoral sky blue cunts. Fuck them and all who sail in them.

Liked what Dom said about his Panenka.

Paraphrasing, he said that he had practiced it all week, and if the goalie was brave enough to stand still in the middle of the goal for a penalty in the 93rd minute, then fair fucks to him he deserved to save it.

I watched the first 30 minutes of City tonight…. It’s clear that Doak has broken Gvardiol. Hopefully Mo reads him the last rites next week.

Just a reminder to little super honest nothing to see here pep.

I would remind him what he said about 18 months ago when the 115 surfaced.

Para phrase here but basically if the board have been lying to me and everyone and found guilty, I am off.

Total shock that the squirmy little turd is now signing a new contract. See him in the dugout v Tamworth then next season.

Luxembourg used to be like Liechtenstein but they have improved a lot. I think they drew vs France in Paris a couple of years ago and they could have won the game.

Cherki is a good player but not by Liverpool standard. He believes in football as an individual sport, can’t release the ball soon enough and he has no brains. Not a chance his figures passed the Edward’s test.

Luxembourg have invested hugely and intelligently in football development.
