That was the Week that Was (Mar 31 - Apr 3 2025)

Monday Mar 31:

Newcastle are reportedly leading the chase for Harvey. If that happened I’d be unspeakably fucking livid. I’ve been thinking about this a fair bit over the break, and the lack of minutes for him this season is a fucking disgrace. I know we’re 12 points clear and cruising to the title, so Slot can say he’s got it right and that’s inarguable. However, alternatively, who’s to say if Harvey had played more than some of those draws wouldn’t have been turned into wins and we’d be more than 12 points clear? We’re not talking about some stiff here, this is a kid who has played loads of games over the past few seasons and been really impressive for the most part. I hate the way he’s been completely fucking shunned this year.

I also don’t like is that it’s just widely accepted that he doesn’t play because he isn’t as quick or athletic as Szoboszlai. I mean that’s probably true, but all we hear about is what Harvey can’t do, and yet all we hear about with Dom is what he can do. It’s never the other way around is it? Dom has had a load of fucking stinkers this season where he’s created fuck all but because he runs a half marathon every game he gets a pass for it.

I understand why he gets picked and when he’s been unavailable we’ve clearly missed him at times. But there are games against deep lying defensive teams where he’s a complete waste of a shirt and Harvey should have been out there. The derby this week being one of them. I’d pick Harvey over him for that game and wouldn’t even think twice about it. I’ll call it now, Dom will do fuck all against Everton, just like the other times he’s faced them. Give me Harvey buzzing around the edge of the box looking for little passes and shooting opportunities rather than Dom shitting out of tackles and passing the buck whenever he has a sight of goal.

If we sell Elliott to Newcastle they can all fuck off as far as I’m concerned, and hopefully if they try that’s exactly what Harvey will tell them.

Meanwhile, Saka is back for Arsenal tomorrow. What’s the betting Arteta plays him for the full 90 and he suffers a recurrence in stoppage time? Ok, that won’t happen tomorrow, but it might against Madrid next week.

Fuckin hell Dave, you where on one in that report! Get the impression it was written quickly as one grievance fed the next.

Brilliant, funny and truthful report though that had me laughing.

Wish other football writers would produce honest aricles like this.

“One of those "decisions" was the biggest officiating justice in the history of football in this country!”

Personally, I think it was an injustice, but each to their own….

Otherwise, fully on board with everything you’ve written about Fraudapoglu.

Totally right about Harvey unfortunately. His treatment has been a fucking disgrace and it does not look good on Slot.

Nobody demands Elliott starts every game but he could bring more. Salah is useless right now, Szobo is burnt out, dors not make sense and makes you wonder  what the fuck is going on ….
