That was the Week that Was (Jan 27-31 2025)

Monday Jan 27:

David Coote is in the news again. In an exclusive with the S*n (of course) he’s come out as gay and said that his struggles with dealing with that led to him taking drugs and calling Jurgen ‘a German cunt’. Firstly, the only people who hadn’t worked out he was gay were the ‘faithfuls’ in this year’s Traitors show. It couldn’t have been more obvious.

Secondly, it's largely irrelevant too as while I'm sure many of us can sympathise with the difficulties he must have faced, it doesn't change anything. He did what he did and there can't really be a way back from that, not in terms of refereeing in this country. not because of what he said about Jurgen or scousers. Not because he snorted coke at the Euros. But because he allowed himself to be filmed doing it and put himself in a position where he could be blackmailed. He may well have been for all any of us now. That might not have come to light yet, but it's entirely logical to think it could have happened.

Meanwhile, Gary Neville is getting stick for something he said about Cole Palmer after Chelsea lost 3-1 at City. At full time Guardiola did his “weird Pep” thing and made a beeline for Palmer, and they were laughing together, much to Neville’s annoyance. It’s very much an old school take from him but it’s one I wholeheartedly agree with. I don’t want to see our players laughing with that cunt, especially after losing 3-1. I like my players to be telling him to go and fuck himself, like my Darwin did last season.

Chelsea lost 3-1 and Palmer didn’t have a good game. He fluffed a one on one chance when he tried to square it instead of shooting and he overhit the pass to Jackson, so yeah, I wouldn’t want to see him laughing with the opposition manager after the game. Fuck that. It’s modern football though, they don’t think the same way anymore.

In other news, Amorim said he’s rather play his goalkeeper coach up front than pick Rashford. You know, I quite like how this fella doesn’t give a fuck about saying stuff like like this and how he isn’t pussyfooting around people. If he thinks Rashford has been a disgrace in training (which by all accounts he is) then why shouldn’t he say so? If a player is trying and is just going through a bad time (Hojland for example) then a manager should have his back and defend him to the hilt. If they aren’t putting in the effort though, take a fucking flamethrower to them. Probably isn’t going to help them find a club to take his salary off their hands though!

Staying with United, I saw a video today of some of their fans cornering “Sir Jim” as he left the car park. They told him he was worse than the Glazers (which in some ways he absolutely is) but the funniest part is when you hear one of them in his nasal manc voice just say “sort it out yer cunt”. Tremendous.

Put this out on blue-sky, the PL came out a couple weeks ago saying that there are no PSR breaches think it was 21 to 24, I know that tweaked the rules a bit.

Surely City could still be under pressure, they have defo sold players to balance the books etc BUT their books are well cooked. If its found right they have been "fixing " commercial contracts above Market Value, then surely they are still at it? They have just announced record revenues, give the troll a 9.5 year extension  and spent nesr £100m in transfers.

I can only assume that even if let's say inflated the contract values by 25% and that is rolled forward they still stay in the PSR limits. Or they know they have "won".

Just want them docked 70 points and flushed away. As you say they look fucked, also that Nunes and Savinho are so shit...

Calm now.

They are still at it. I keep saying this. Hate it when people say stuff like "they've gone legit now but the problem is they cheated for so long they gave themselves an unfair leg up".

No!!!! They're still cheating just as much as they ever were, but because in recent years they've cut their spending on transfer fees somewhat people think they've scaled it back. They stopped submitting their accounts from 2018 but every year their turnover is laughably high and wage bill is laughably low. And some of the sponsors they've had in recent years don't actually even exist!! Nick Harris has investigated some of that stuff and tweeted about it.

So yeah, they're still cheating as much as they ever were, but now they just refuse to show the books, and because there aren't any hacked emails since that hero did it last time, evidence is harder to get hold of.

Surely refusing to show their accounts is an even easier slam dunk for the Premier League.

This net spend argument is also cobblers, as this will obviously lower as time goes on and all of the young starlets they lured by ignoring the rules and the plethora of £50m left backs are sold on

Nobody seems to be mentioning that Chelsea still don’t have a sponsor.  That’s 30-40m straight off the bottom line of their accounts.  They aren’t in the champions league yet somehow still seem to be spending comical amounts on players they don’t need and are linked with so many players.
