United lost again but City finally got a win, albeit an undeserved one. Probably the biggest story of the past week though has been Chelsea’s total implosion. It seems like only a week or two ago that they were a win at Goodison away from going top, and now they’re ten points behind having played a game more. Actually it was only a week or two ago. Kinell.
It’s not like they’ve had particularly tough games either. Everton, Fulham and Ipswich isn’t that taxing. People laughed at Maresca when he said they weren’t genuine contenders, but the man knew what he was talking about.
I’ll start with City though as that was the first game of the weekend. I said last week there were only three or four sides that City are capable of beating right now, and Leicester were one of those. However, Leicester actually outplayed them and although City won I’m not sure there’s really too much they can take from that, as they just look so fucking flat. It was funny seeing how happy they were celebrating though. How the mighty have fallen eh? Cheating cunts.
Leicester were sitting in, letting them have it and then springing out on quick counters when the chance arose. They had one early on that was a thing of beauty and looked like it had won them a penalty when Ortega barged Vardy over. Unfortunately Vardy had gone a fraction early and was a couple of inches offside. Brilliant football that though.
Vardy had a decent chance soon after when the latest clanger from Gvardiol put him in, but Ortega saved well. That was a turning point as soon after City were ahead, when the keeper made a dog’s dinner out of a Foden shot and Savinho scored the rebound. First goal of the season for him. Money well spent there.
Leicester pushed hard for an equaliser and went close a few times. Buenanotte hit the post with a header and then felt he should have been given a pen when he turned Ake and was clipped. Yeah, you’re not getting that with Abu Dhabi Mike in charge.
Vardy wasted a great chance and they also had one cleared off the line, before Haaland eventually finished them off with a free header. That bum Coady was 10 yards deeper than everyone else, playing him onside. But he shouts a lot and does boss interviews after games so no-one will say anything. When he retires that cunt is going to be on more media outlets than Micah Richards, and that’ll be me done with ever watching any punditry again.
Overall Leicester were excellent and if they play like this every week they have a chance, but they won’t because they won’t play teams as soft as Man City every week. Despite their encouraging showing, they still lost so you can understand why Ruud had such a long face.
