Premier League Round Up (Dec 21-27 2024)

    roundupheader.jpg

City lost again. Did anybody really expect anything else though? All piss taking aside, was there anybody who thought they could go to Villa and win? There was no chance of that happening. None.

Right now there are maybe only four or five teams in the league that City are capable of beating, and even then they’d probably need to be at the Etihad to do it. The way they’re playing, they didn’t have a hope in hell of turning Villa over.

The only surprising thing to me is how close the scoreline was. That wasn’t a reflection of the game though. Villa should have scored five easily.

It’s been happening for a couple of months now so I should be getting used to it, but it’s still jarring seeing City players do some of the pathetic shit they’re doing. It almost feels like they’re doing some of this deliberately.

Gvardiol has gone from being one of their best players to a jabbering fucking wreck. I’ve joked a few times about how that’s because of what Ben Doak did to him (twice) but whatever the reason for it, he’s proper shit right now. The way he was caught on the ball inside the first 20 seconds by Duran was truly appalling. Ortega bailed him out, but that was so fucking bad. How are you starting a game like that when you’re in the kind of run City are? How are you not fully switched on and concentrated?

From the corner Ortega had to parry a Torres header onto the bar and from that moment on City fans probably knew what kind of day it was going to be. The same as virtually every other day they’ve had since September. The only team they’ve beaten in ages is Forest, but that’s because Forest seem to save their best for the difficult games. They were probably complacent against City.

A Villa goal was imminent and it came when Rogers was sent clear and he squared for Duran to score. Where were the City defenders? So fucking easy that. Just a ball in behind to a runner and it took out the entire City backline. The slow cunts.

City eventually played their way back into it and had a couple of half chances before half time. Martinez was booked after the half time whistle for acting the cunt. Don’t know what he did or who he did it to, but Haaland and Grealish seemed to be the ones in his face so in this instance I’ll back that scumbag keeper.

Duran had a goal ruled out for offside and Cash put one into the side netting. Rogers hit the post and a Villa goal seemed certain. Eventually it came through Rogers, who’s running power was just too much for City. We’ve seen that all season, City just don’t have the legs to handle physical, strong running players. The irony is that Rogers was their player and they let him go.

Watkins was denied by Ortega as Villa piled forward looking for more goals, but out of nothing Foden got one back in stoppage time to set up a nervy couple of minutes. His first goal of the season, which is fucking crazy considering how good he is. Seriously, I don’t know how that’s even possible to have his talent and not score a goal until late December. Then again, look at Grealish. How can this happen under the "greatest coach of all time"?

The decisions by Ratcliffe to cut funding to the care in the community budget, and the ex-players charity is absolutely fucking deplorable. The United fans should be out on the streets, but they'd look a bit soft after begging for this twat to take over!

The city situation has many factors. One behind the scenes one is this. They are trying to balance their books, the sales of Rogers Delap and Palmer, and Alvarez would be nearly all profit. They need that profit because they have record income *roles eyes* once the verdict comes in and drops those commercial revenues by say 25% that will have to role forward to future years from 2018. If that gets applied then likely they stay within the PSR and likely avoid more punishment but only having sold off their best academy players.

But their current state is a product of this cost cutting (nothing like Sir Jim) how much better would they look if those 4 mentioned were in the team.

Their dominance was borne out persistent financial doping and led to a £500m subs bench, them playing by the "rules " has led to the current shit show where half the bench are kids who are not a patch on ours. Rico Lewis OK pro, not a chance he makes our squad never mind the team.

They will need a full redress which having sold their young guns will be impossible from any relegation they get hit with. Plus the owners will drop them like a dog turd as their honour has been disrespected. Opportunity to pick up a championship club for a quid?

Utd on the other hand.... might be the biggest ever crowd in the Championship that Mcr Derby.

One "rumour" from a mate of mine was that Cole Palmer was coming to OT in Jan as Sir Jim Twatcliffe saw him as their no 1 target and Palmer is a red...

Delusion leads to lunacy..

Gary Neville has Gvardiol in his Premier League team of the season so far!

I know, and did you see Carra's reaction when he saw it?
