Sorry this is late, I’ve been away this week and couldn’t get this posted until now. The first week of the season went pretty much exactly how most would have expected. The ‘big three’ all won, the newly promoted trio all lost, as did Everton.
It all kicked off on Friday night as Fulham went to Old Trafford, and again the outcome was completely expected. United outplayed again, gave up loads of chances again, rode their luck and fluked a win again. Almost all of their games follow the same pattern and only the result changes, as not even the luck of the devil that they’ve always enjoyed is enough for them to win every week. They’ll lose loads of games again this season because they’re fucking shite. They still don’t realise it though, which is great.
United were wide open for counter attacks in the second half but Fulham kept wasting them. The biggest culprit was that Pereira jabroni. Did you know he was in Brazil’s squad for the Copa America? That really offends me for some reason. International footy is so shit now. Even the big nations have slapdicks from nomark Premier League sides in their squads and it’s cheapened the whole thing.
I think back to my first memory of Brazil in 1982. Zico, Falcao, Socrates, Eder, Junior, Cerezo…. magical players, almost mythical creatures actually as we’d never see them playing over here. Nowadays Brazil are picking bums from Villa, West Ham, Fulham, Everton, Forest etc and it’s just shit.
Anyway, I digress. United’s new signing won it for them late with a scabby goal, leaving Ten Hag to waffle about a good performance and lots to take encouragement from. Keep telling yourself that, baldy. Wait, am I ok to take the piss out of bald managers now we have one ourselves? I’m gonna say yes, because I didn’t hire Slot so I’m not responsible for us having an egghead in charge.
United looking shite and winning isn’t something I’ve missed, but you know what the best thing about the new season arriving is? Everton being back. God bless them. I’ve missed them and the entertainment they bring me. I can enjoy it for what it is now since I finally gave up on the dream of them being relegated.
