Welsh youngster Harry Wilson came off the bench to fire the Reds into the FA Youth Cup 5th round, as his second half double helped Neil Critchley's side to an impressive 3-1 victory over Aston Villa tonight.
Daniel Trickett-Smith had given Liverpool a first half lead with a superb dipping half volley from just outside the box, but confusion between centre back Jordan Williams and goalkeeper Ryan Crump allowed Villa to equalise. Critchley was forced into a half time substitution when Seyi Ojo was forced off through injury, but Wilson's arrival sparked the side and his link up with the impressive Ryan Kent proved decisive, as Kent twice played him in and Wilson found the net in some style on both occasions.
Wilson should have had a hat-trick but shot straight at the keeper late on. The Reds will now face either Watford or current holders Norwich in the next round.
Team: Crump; Randall, Williams, Jones, Maguire; Rossiter, Brannagan, Trickett-Smith; Ojo (Wilson), Canos (Phillips), Kent:
