Report: PSG and Inter Milan join race to sign Gini Wijnaldum

Gini Wijnaldum has attracted further interest on the continent with Paris Saint Germain and Inter Milan reportedly very keen on signing the midfielder.

It is common knowledge that the Dutchman’s current contract expires in June, but to this point there has been no movement on a new deal leading to strong speculation that the very popular figure will be departing come the end of this campaign.

Allowing Wijnaldum to leave on a free transfer seems crazy on the face of it. You know what you get from the Dutchman. Like the best online casino he provides consistent, reliable excellence. You know what you're going to get so why take a chance on anything inferior?

It does appear that the end is nigh though, as the most recent comment by either party came last month with Wijnaldum rather blunt about how things stand.

"There is no update yet. I also think I’m not the one who should give the update.

"The club should do that. So if there is an update, the club will give it."

The 30 year-old came very close to departing in the past off-season as new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman had identified his fellow countryman as a key part of his rebuilding plan, however Jurgen Klopp was able to hang on to a key member of his squad.

And it is a good thing too as Wijnaldum has been at his consistent best and his durability has been a godsend for the manager in a season wrecked by significant injuries.

He has made 37 appearances in all competitions and is set to lead the team in Jordan Henderson’s absence. Having more than paid off his initial transfer fee Wijnaldum was a gamble that paid off as handsomely as hitting the jackpot in the best high roller casinos

The Mirror ( via French publication Le Parisien) reports that  PSG have made it known that they are particularly interested in landing Wijnaldum on a free transfer while Inter Milan are monitoring the situation.

It is clear that if the Dutchman does depart Liverpool after five seasons and over 200 appearances, he will leave a sizeable hole in the Liverpool midfield as well as his general impact in and around the squad.

Barca are surely off the radar for him now? They are skint and fucked as a team.  He'd be wasting the last few years at the top level going there.  I'm still holding out a slim hope he re-signs.

i am sure as every week passes and he is about the only one capable of getting on the pitch, his wages and length demands will be going up and not down. not a cat in hells chance of him staying now imo.

I think you're right but I wish you weren't.

I don't  get why the club paid what it did for Thiago along with his wages yet not sort out a deal for Gini when there's very little age difference and he's already on the books.

He's a cracking player Gini, fit,  reliable and hard working.

It doesn't make sense to me that he hasn't been offered a deal.

Because of his importance to the team, as far as I'm concerned,  it's a no brainer.

the more i watch of thiago is he looks a slightly less mobile version of gini. i know everyone says thiago's passing is great, but i am convinced that's just because he plays no look passes, i don't see any benefit over what gini contributes. maybe i am wrong, but i reckon we got thiago as gini's replacement, but we were able to fund it early by selling brewster and using lallana's wages and if barca had bid enough for gini, we'd have snatched their hands off. thank fuck they didn't. no way he's here next year though sadly. let's hope we get someone to add value using gini's wages - fuck knows where the fee will come from.

Nah.  What he wants and what we are willing to offer will already be in writing and on the relevant peoples desks.  It won't be changing just because of some injuries.  What needs to happen is a willingness to compromise from both parties and to get a middle ground from what's been asked.

Although, he may have decided he wants to play in a different country. He's won everything he wants here.  Spain or Italy might appeal.  In which case, more power to him and I wish him well.

all the noises before christmas were there was a compromise could be made - which doesn't lend itself to the idea he feels he needs to play in another country. as you say, if he wants to, good on him - i would sooner play somewhere a bit warmer too.

but in terms of any distance between him and the club, i think my point is it will be widening by the day. clearly LFC's message here is either you're not worth what you're asking or has has been reported, you're getting on a bit and we won't offer a long deal. this season he has more than proved he is one of that breed of footballer who is incredibly physically robust, so if anything, his position will have hardened.

I dont believe what the club's offered and what Gini wants can be a massive difference unless he's looking for something approaching parity with Mo. And in my opinion, he's not worth that.

I like Gini but his game lacks finishing and goals. it's not a question of he doesnt get chance to get forward. He does but he then frequently mishits his shots.

Im convinced Gini wants to leave and get a big pay cheque a free gives him. I dont have a problem with that but am disappointed if that proves to be the case.

If he's on a free then he's set to make a personal fortune. Good for him. He's given the club the best years of his career & never left anything on the pitch; he deserves to make hay while the sun shines.
