As Luis Suarez prepares to make his much anticipated return to action tonight at Old Trafford, former Reds star Bruce Grobbelaar says the club should have sold him last summer.
“If you were just judging him by his calibre on the field then of course you would want him at Liverpool," the flamboyant former keeper told Talksport's 'The Sports Bar' show. “But when you considered what he said earlier this season and his attitude, I would have got rid of him and gone and got some players who want to be there.
“When he said he wanted to go I was the first one to say, ‘get rid of him’, because I thought he was going to be a bad egg amongst the team.”
Despite the club insisting Suarez will not be allowed to leave, Grobbelaar remains unconvinced the Uruguayan will be at Anfield for much longer, adding; “Brendan Rodgers has kept him at Liverpool but we’ll see how long he actually stays,” he said. “We’ll see whether he stays until the end of the season or goes in January.”
