McManaman: Klopp could be tempted by Bayern Munich in the future

Steve McManaman believes that Bayern Munich could be the next stop in the managerial career of Jürgen Klopp.

Klopp has built a Liverpool team to be on the verge of greatness having won the Champions League, Super And Club World Cups in the last 12 month and sitting tantalisingly close to ending the league drought.

Not only has Klopp brought success to the club, he has brought a sense of boundless energy and joy which resonates throughout the whole club and translates to the supporters.

It is all about unity and that is a remarkable quality in itself especially when you take into account how volatile the footballing landscape can be.

There has always been a level of speculation regarding what the next step for the German will be when he decides to leave the Reds

He signed a new long-term deal at Liverpool last December which keeps him contracted to Anfield until 2024 despite much chatter that he was thinking of taking a sabbatical at the end of his current deal in 2022.

At the announcement of the re-signing, the manager stated:

“For me personally this is a statement of intent, one which is built on my knowledge of what we as a partnership have achieved so far and what is still there for us to achieve.

“When I see the development of the club and the collaborative work that continues to take place, I feel my contribution can only grow.

“This club is in such a good place, I couldn’t contemplate leaving."

However McManaman believes that a club like Bayern could come calling in the future and Klopp would look closely at the possibility.

Metro(via the Daily Star) reported the former midfielder as saying:

“I think he really adores Liverpool and the Premier League.

“But you could see him going back to Germany and managing Bayern Munich.

“The way that club is run - and the way German managers are treated there - you wouldn't rule it out.

“A few years ago it looked like Bayern were on their last legs.

“But now, along with the more experienced players, they've got a plethora of youngsters who are hungry.

While McManaman believes a return home to the Bundesliga would temp Klopp, he says Spain would not be on his radar especially the way clubs are run in La Liga.

“I'm not sure Klopp has any desire to manage Real Madrid or Barcelona and I don't see why he'd go to La Liga though.

“They don't have the aura that they did when Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were doing battle every week.

“There is also all the politics behind the scenes at Barca with the board and players.

“Real is a different scenario.

"They need to refresh their squad and they are bringing in young players like Vinicius Junior - but they aren't ready yet.”

With his links to Borussia Dortmund, it would be a big call for Klopp to make the jump to one of their fierce rivals.

There is also the lure of the National team job which he has also been heavily linked with in the past.

Whatever Klopp chooses to do in the future, he will do with the blessing of everyone associated with the club

But for now, lets just enjoy the next few years with Jurgen in charge and look to claim a few more honours along the way.

I loved McManaman as a player, but he strikes me as being a bit of a dense cunt with a propensity for talking utter shite in interviews.  This being a prime example.

Well if some hack or media outlet asked him the question, he's bound to answer. But if he's just knocked up a piece as part of his usual media work, then he can fuck off with this speculation shit.

Yes, Im pretty sure Jurgen would consider an approach by Bayern at some point in the future. Would he consider it while he was here? Maybe towards the end of his contract here or if something happened to make his position untennable and unable to continue here.

Personally, I think theGermany job will have a bigger draw on him in a few years time.

 Nonsense from Shaggy that.

Klopp going to Bayern would be like Ferguson or Mourinho coming to us.

If Klopp ever leaves, it’ll be for the Germany job.

i don't think an international job will be enough for Klopp he seems to love the day to day stuff to much

Where is  the challenge in going to Bayern ?  If you win the league with them people just shrug their shoulders and go “so what winning the league is the bare minimum expected of you”.
I would imagine one of the reasons he came here was the chance to reawaken a sleeping giant and especially when you’re up against sides with more financial clout as well .
Could be wrong but it just doesn’t look like Klopp’s style to go to a side that’s already top dog. He’s not Guardiola

McManaman has always struck me as a guy who's the brightest person in a dim group of friends, and has an inflated perception of his own intelligence because of it.

I think Jurgen gets pleasure from achieving against the odds rather than from just racking up expected triumphs. I doubt going to Bayern would be in his favoured career plan

He'd be the team captain on tenable in a team that all end up in the vortex.

Yeah, McManaman really is thick as shit and wrong about everything.

Couldn't see Klopp managing anyone in Germany other than Dortmund, Mainz or maybe Stuttgart. Although, in all honestly, I doubt he'll manage in the Bundlesliga again. Few more years here, then the German national team. Then I reckon he'd do something fucking ace like open some enormous football academies in Western Africa or something. Or become Prime Minister in 2028.

Macca's gibberish about Real Madrid and Barcelona is a complete irrelevance. If Klopp had any desire to manage in Spain, which I don't think he has, it would be to make someone like Valencia or Sevilla compete.

One of my early football heroes, maybe because style of play was very aesthetically pleasing. I used to get up and watch televised Real games in the CL to follow his progress.  I was rapt for him winning the CL for Real the first time. Fast forward twenty years later to now, I genuinely think he’s one of the worst football pundits around. There were games last year where I muted the tele.

I'd be astounded if Klopp went to Bayern but wouldn't be surprised if he returned to Dortmund and/or Mainz at some stage.

Klopp makes history as first coach of two teams in the same division. Details of how he coaches both teams when they play each other are still to be ironed out, but use of a Kloppelganger has not been ruled out.

David Wagner or our fitness coach could help him out.

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if he joined Bayern.  Klopp will take a break for a year or so at the end of his current Liverpool contract and then I'd expect take the Germany job when it's available.

Either Germany or a stint at Dortmund again is what I reckon after him taking at least a year off when finished here.

For me Dortmund seems more likely unless he wants to take a bit of a breather with the day to day stuff.

He might even hang up his managerial boots, which seems unlikely though.
