Klopp: Mo needs to relax and the goals will come

Mo Salah was one of the sensational stories in World Football last season. Arriving from Roma, the Egyptian initially looked to be a handy signing for a club that was looking to go to the next level. .

Little did anyone know what sort of impact that the 26 year-old would have at Liverpool especially as his first experience of English football at Chelsea did not hold pleasant memories for him.

The rest as they say is history as the forward broke a number of club and and Premier League records along with winning a number of individual honours.

However, this season has been a different story as Mo has found the going a little bit tougher, although not for the want of trying.

If anything he appears to be trying too hard, and the manager Jurgen Klopp has told him there is a simple way to rectify his quiet start to the season.

The Liverpool Echo reported the German as saying:

"Be relaxed, completely relaxed, because there is no need for anything else. The quality is there and so everything is fine.

"There's nothing that I can tell you here (about what he had said to Salah) because that's between us like always. But it was absolutely clear that we would stand in a situation like this here and talk about it".

Salah had a couple of chances that in his top form he would have buried without a shadow of a doubt, however Klopp saw some reasons behind the missed opportunities.

"With Mo, (at Chelsea) first shot too close, second shot too far, so position wise with the feet it is easy to explain.

"So then you don't see the ball properly, twice, one time it is rolling, the other time it is flying, and then next time the ball was perfect, we passed.

"So in these situations going through them there is no advice, you can not give it, because the experience, they make themselves, they know.

While Salah has only scored three times in the opening seven games of the league season he currently sits second in terms of shots on target (12) another clear sign he Is not far away from returning to top goal scoring form.

Klopp in his unique turn of phrase spoke a deal of sense when questioned if he was the same player as last season.

"Forty-four goals last year, then you don't score from the first day of this season: of course something changes.

"If you play tennis and your forehand is good and the next day your forehand is not there you think 'What is it?' Is it because of what I had for breakfast?'

"That's how sport works. It is about your confidence. His game is really good.

"His last game was really good – he was in the positions but then the last two balls were not too cool, that happens.

In reality, if Mo scores half the tally as last season but we win a cup or two, in a team sense it is a better all-round situation.
