Jurgen Klopp has given Mo Salah the ultimate complement by saying the Egyptian has been one of the finest signings he has made in his managerial career.
In a season of considerable struggle for last seasons’s Champions, the performance of Salah has shone like a beacon scoring 30 goals in all competitions.
With his strike against Man United on Thursday night, Salah passed the 20-goal mark in the league for the third time in four seasons and is in contention for another Golden boot award currently sitting equal top with Harry Kane for that honour.
Salah also made his 200thclub appearance in the fixture at Old Trafford and in that time has scored 124 goals which sees him currently placed 12th on the all-time Liverpool goalscorers list.
The goals to games ratio of Salah is a outstanding 1.61 which is second only to Gordon Hodgson who played for the club in the 1920s and 30s.
Ahead of the clash with West Brom on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp was asked where he personally ranks the 29 year-old as the Official Site reported.
“Top – absolutely top, but it is not about signing.
“You can sign a player but then we all are responsible, so the player [is] obviously as well and the coaches, to make it happen.
“Let me say it like this: two players, there’s Robert Lewandowski, who I signed for a different amount of money years ago – well, not years ago, but it feels like – who had an incredible development from a different level, but an incredible development.
“With Mo, from the guy who scores from time to time and is a really good football player to this goalscoring machine is a massive development."
Klopp said it is not just the goalscoring exploits of Salah that impresses him, but the professionalism that he produces on a game to game basis.
"He is an outstanding signing, but for sure the way he developed, the way he treats himself, the game preparation, the training preparation, training attitude and all these kind of things, that’s exceptional.
“That’s a real role model and he deserves all that, absolutely.”
