Gerrard: Liverpool fans want Jurgen Klopp as manager of Liverpool

Steven Gerrard has unequivocally put his support behind Jurgen Klopp to guide Liverpool out of their current form slump and lead them to further success.

The current Rangers manager has shown his managerial skills by leading Rangers to their first league title in 10 years and currently has the Glasgow giants just six games away from a unbeaten league season as well as into the the last 16 of the Europa League.

Football is rapidly turning into a sport of 'hot takes' and shock headlines where all the good work from the Incumbent man in charge seems to be forgotten in the blink of a eye for someone is deemed as 'flavour of the month.'

The history of Gerrard with Liverpool and recent success in his managerial career means that people will take the step of coming up with 2+2=5 and the scenario that the Reds legend is the man in waiting for the Anfield hot seat.

While you can only give credit to his very impressive work North of the border, the absurd notion that Klopp should be under any deal of pressure for his job needs to be put in its place once and for all.

Being the incredibly astute football man that he is, Gerrard touched on this exact topic as the Echo reported:

“The Liverpool fans don't want me to be the manager of Liverpool Football Club."

“They want Jurgen Klopp to continue as manager and I am totally with all of them. I wish you knew how much we loved Jurgen Klopp.

"We have one of the best managers leading our club at the minute.

“I love him and we hope he stays for a few more years. I've got a job here, I don't think its helpful to talk about this - I hope Jurgen stays at Liverpool for many years.

Gerrard has been around long enough in Football to know things can change in an instant.

What could be the hottest thing on the planet today, could be tomorrow’s Fish and Chip wrappings tomorrow.

That is why, while being incredibly honest about his goals, he is extremely pragmatic about the brutal nature of the industry he is in.

“Liverpool is my club. I had a fantastic journey as a player. I'm doing a completely different career path now. I'm happy in the job and role I'm in now.

“Is it a dream for me to one day be the Liverpool manager?

"Yes, it is. But not yet and who's to say I'll ever be good enough? Who says I'll be the owners' choice?

"There's a lot of managers on this planet who would all like the chance to manage Liverpool.

“I think we need to respect the guy that's in charge first and foremost because he's done an incredible job.

"He's taken me to places in the last two or three years which have been incredible. The feeling. Me, my family and all the Liverpool supporters would all back that up.

"For me, let's just get behind Jurgen."

Great interview is that so much so it actually sounded like a erm young Klopp, I actually was half expecting him to do a Tom Cruise,  Mission Impossible type thing half way through and rip his face mask off to reveal Jurgen.

Still be too much for the Sky / TalkShite mongs to get their heads around though and no doubt all this Jurgen to Germany and Gerrard replacing him will carry on for days weeks to come

Football turning into a hot picks? Think it did that at least 10 years ago, if not more.

Love Stevie, made up for the lad that he took his club to it's first title in years. He comes across as the complete manager and anyone wanting to draw similarities between his time at Rangers and Souey so events may go pearshaped if \ when he takes over at Anfield, are misplaced in my opinion. Stevie is a completely different character to Souey.
