Carragher: Liverpool need three signings to contend for title

I still say Bobby will improve with the return of Hendo and Fab to midfield. He is badly in need of ‘service at pace’ & I’m convinced he’ll respond. As I’ve said on another thread, he doesn’t get service from TAA and Robbo as much as Sadio & Mo do.

I agree with a back up for VVD, who may have more injuries. I’ve also mentioned the fact that considering Hendo has finally found his mojo which was years in the making, and will need replacing at some point, if it took 6-7 yrs to develop Hendo into what he is, we’d better start recruiting or developing now. Who is Hendo’s replacement or ‘understudy’ ?? A player already in the squad, or not yet purchased.
 

Klopp must have an idea as to the next generation team that will spring out of the ashes of this one.

A proper no 9 would transform the team. DCL would be ideal but that’s not going to happen. Bamford is a lovely footballer, or I’d take Raul Jimenez. 

Was great to hear Coleman speak about Liverpool and Klopp with respect and a constructive opinion rather than the shite uttered by the likes of Keane trying to garner cheap headlines .

He's going in 3 years no matter how well we do or don't do, I doubt he's planning long term!

I think a lot will depend on the covid situation , if crowds are back to a reasonable level by August I think there will be a large spending window meaning we can offload fringe players and give us a war chest.

It's not a major rebuilding job, but he's right that we need first team quality, the lack of depth has been an issue for successive managers here. 

I don't agree that we're somehow finished or we've been found out either, it's a combination of a bad injury list, bad luck, poor form and fucked up players who seem emotionally and mentally on another planet to what they were before Covid kicked off. 

If you believe Klopp has gone shite you must by extension believe Solksjaer is a managerial genius who's simply been biding his time to reveal his potential, I'd contest that neither statement is true. rather that the world is tits up. 

Pundits can fuck off anyway, ex red or not, they're all bottomless sources of shite these days. I didn't listen to them when they were cooing over us and I don't listen to them now. 

Would be great if Kabak and Davies turn out of suitable standard and having Van Dijk and Gomez back will undoubtedly be enormous and we’re a totally different outfit again. Hendo and Fab back in middle, Thiago bedded in. 
 

A replacement for Bobby is absolutely imperative. Haaland the one to get as difficult as it is to envisage it, but he represents value. He had what a £60 m buy out clause, he’s worth around £160-180m in market value. Fucking do it.

I’ve a bad feeling we won’t replace Gini which will be a big mistake.

He plays to a good level nearly every week - but most importantly he’s always available. We can’t go into next season thinking we can rely on Keita to be available for us.

Agree with this.

I actually like MNF because it’s the only football content where the pundits have time to put together an argument and back it up.

The thing is though, you’d expect pundits to be able to put something decent together when they have loads of time.

Neville and Carra are decent at that but their immediate takes are just as bad as the other shit pundits. And when it comes to their commentary, they choose a narrative before a game and peddle it even if the game is going differently.

Carragher and his likes are in the entertainment business, which means they arent being paid to act as experts.

Also most of then dont have much expert knowledge either. They’ve been players mainly, and surely they have an idea or two on the game. But they are far from up to date on the latest developments in the game, and very few of them have any fresh evidence of expertise from actual coaching or management where you have to deliver results.

Surely Curtis Jones is going to be immense. He could easily replace Gini and is actually already being integrated.

WE AREN’T bad champions. We’re going through exactly what City went thru last season, after winning it the season before - a thinner squad and some poor results. They lost a defender and he needed replacing. Now they are re-invested and looking strong.

We’ll be back. For now its a fight for top four, which is absolutely necessary to achieve.

Our beloved owners need to relax their 'sell to buy' policy. It's all good selling one to buy two or three, but if you then let two or three go without replacements you're defeating the purpose.

We need quality cover like our rivals have. Otherwise we're at a disadvantage straight away.

It's pretty surreal and pretty fucking stupid seeing three guys sat there with 12 feet of space between them with an empty ground behind them and a camera man in a space suit all musing as to the mysteries of what's changed for liverpool this season.

It's nonsense to suggest Henderson has "finally found his mojo". It was pretty much universally thought that his sending off against City in 13/14  had such a detrimental effect that it contributed hugely to us not winning the title.
