Alexander Arnold: There is still a lot more to come from me

Trent Alexander-Arnold is happy but not truly content with what he has produced as a Liverpool player to this point of time.

The 23 year-old recently ticked over 150 appearances in all competitions for the Reds since making his senior debut as a 18 year-old in the League Cup clash against Tottenham in 2016.

In the seasons since, Alexander-Arnold has developed into one of the finest full-backs in World Football winning many individual and team honours along the way as well as becoming a England international.

It is the kind of resume that many professionals would be thrilled with for their entire career but speaking ahead of the first leg of Liverpool’s last-16 tie with Inter Milan, Alexander-Arnold said he had plenty more to give as the Official site reported:

“A lot more, I would say, a lot more.

“For me, I still see it as early days, I don’t class myself as a young player but in terms of career you’re looking at 15- to 20-year careers these days, hopefully. So I feel like I am only in the early stages.

“So there’s still a lot more, there’s still so much room for improvement, I still see I’ve got so much more potential to give and do and achieve.

“I’m not really thinking about what I’ve done, I’m more thinking about what I can do, how I can get better, what more I can achieve and how I can consistently be winning things every season.”

The defender admitted that he is in a good headspace when it came to his personal form at this point of time, and it is the crunch games approaching the end of the season that really drives him.

“I feel like I’m playing good football at the minute, I’ve enjoyed this season so far.

“But I’ve always found myself enjoying the latter stages of the season more, I’ve always found myself having good form near the ends of the seasons because they’re the big games, they’re the ones that matter, they’re the Champions League knockouts, you’re getting later into the cups, you’re getting into the late stages of the league.

“I’m looking to win trophies and help the team do that. So if that means playing as well as I can, which it will mean, then that’s what needs to be done. I’m excited to see what happens between February and May, a lot will happen, we just hope we’re on the happy end come May.”
