PODCAST: Reaction to Arne Slot Interview & Listener Q&A

Arne Slot has finally spoken for the first time as Liverpool manager and we give our reaction to what was said and how he said it.

Chris Smith is joined by Paul Natton, Stu Montagu and TLW Editor Dave Usher to address the new gaffer's first public address, while the lads also answer a series of questions sent in by you, the listeners.

Plus the usual off topic nonsense including Basil Fawlty meltdowns resulting in personal injury, a Guinness World Record attempt, an progress report on parrot training in Southport plus the revelation that one of the podcast crew is standing for election as an MP on July 4th.

Nice one lads, enjoyed Paul's "I don't ask for much" performance on whether Slot has a do or die season ahead of him. "Nah I'm easy going, has to get top four, be in the title mix, trophies are nice..."

He did clarify he wasn't expecting all that but it was funny how he kept adding stuff to the "let him get his feet under the table" tone.

Good luck, Dan!

I think the 80 point goal was realistic and a point well made.

Someone in a thread in the Football Forum mentioned "only having to add 10%" to win the league.  I think losing 10% is more likely, given the person he is directly following and the fact that there is so little time before the competition starts after the international tournaments.

He'll be doing well to maintain the standards of last season, I believe, notwithstanding the quality of the players we have.  The key is what he does with those players in terms of identifying a formation/system.  I don't believe Jurgen got it quite right last year.  I bet he would have this year after working with them for a season, but there you go...

Anyway, a great listen - thanks to all involved.

Once we got past the toe thing (Jesus I hate feet) it was a great podcast. Very much appreciate the considered answers to the “free hit” question. I’m flip flopping like an eejit on it.

It put my drive in great and I hope you can stretch to a few before the season starts up again.

Anyway, I’m here now for a few days work. No, not Acapulco, but Donegal.

You were talking about getting through the champions League group stage - but isn't it different now, isn't it a league format?

It all seems quite convoluted.

It’s one huge group and then goes into knock-out.
