PODCAST: Liverpool 6 Leeds Utd 0 - Match Reaction

Six of the best from the Reds turned up the heat on Manchester City and plunged Leeds further into relegation trouble.

Sadio and Mo bagged a couple each while both centre backs also got on the scoresheet, with Big Joel finally doing what he's been threatening to all season. It was well worth the wait.

Chris Smith is joined by Paul Natton and TLW Editor Dave Usher to reflect on one hell of a night at Anfield and to look ahead to Sunday's League Cup Final against Chelsea.

Haven't listened to it yet, but is there anymore On the Buses chat? The actress who played Olive died this week in a house fire.

I mean, I'm not blaming this podcast, but it does seem a bit coincidental...

It really does. Julian's fault.

Oh please. We know where the blame really lies, but we don't speak of that anymore, do we?

The best non-profanity-laden-rant-against-opposition-fans/team so far. I could spend all day unpacking it, so I'll limit myself to admitting to not understanding what the etiquette regarding songs is. My attitude always has been that anything which gets the crowd going is a good thing. Last night I joined in with "the Reds have got no money but we'll still win the league". The two auld fellas behind began tut-tutting about how they didn't like it. In fairness they're grand to be around and they weren't having a go at me specifically, but I did feel like turning around and saying "well you show me how it's done, Statler and Waldorf!" Next time I go to the ground I'm going to wear a jester hat. My blue one.

I like that chant. Only thing is, the Diaz signing has taken the wind out of its sails!

Only problem last night was loads joining in with Leeds fans singing "Stand up if you hate Man U"

That's me pouring coffee from my French press! Forgot to mute my mic. Plenty of taking the piss though.

Okay, that etiquette I understand. Please amend my last post to 'my attitude always has been that anything which gets the crowd going is a good thing, as long as it's about Liverpool and not some small-time shit like "Stand up if you hate Man U"'.

I'm not having that first half performance, we got lucky and we were sloppy as fuck at times.  City might have scored three if we played them like that.

Mane penalty shouldn't have been given either.

Amazing how narratives change based on the final score, that wasn't a vintage performance by any stretch.

We were in second gear, occasionally third. That was all it needed. Some of the football we played was brilliant but it was only in flashes.

I wouldn't have given either of our pens but it doesn't matter because we'd still have scored a hatful even if they hadn't been given because it felt like we could score any time we really wanted to.

In his post match press conference Klopp said we weren't great for the first 15 minutes - we'd only had one session to prepare for Leeds, they play in a unique way and it was too hectic. But after that was much better. Pretty much what happened?

Just a point on the Leeds fans and the anti-Liverpool chants late on: I wonder if they did that because we basically jibbed them off when they tried to start a “Stand up if you hate Man U” chant and then we also started giving it the whole “Show them to the way to go home”, which they obviously won’t have liked. Hardly the worst chant against an opponent though is it? I’m properly disappointed that they did Sign On and Liverpool Slums. The sign of a proper big club support is one that focuses on its own team rather the opponent (massive rivalries excepted of course).

I didn’t hear it from the Kop and I heard every else so it couldn’t have been that loud. Maybe it was only a few of them? Not that that’s a defence.

It may well have been in response to show them the way to go home. I don't think it was in response to the Man U stuff because loads did join in with it, unfortunately.

It was pretty loud but not as loud as We are Leeds etc so yeah, probably not the entire away end.

The pronunciation on that chant is always like: "Wayalay-wayalay-wayalay, way-a-lay, WAY-A-LAY"

Good old fashioned Footy debate with Paul & Dave great to hear - I listen to a lot of other footy podcasts and they always seem like echo chamber of opinions with no real difference of views.

To be fair, it’s difficult to have vastly opposing views on an LFC podcast at the moment given there’s nothing to be upset about, the team practically picks itself and everyone’s a happy camper.

“We are ace.”

”Fuck off! What a load of shit! We’re actually FUCKING ace.”

Hmmm, maybe we should have an arguing section and find some arbitrary shit to debate?

That's probably because they don't have someone like Paul on there talking absolute bollocks.

I blame the soft cunt who keeps inviting me on…

Think supplementary shows about stuff not directly related to the current side could generate more debate. Like an all-time eleven show or stuff like that.

Ye fair enough about us - its more something like the Times podcast they talk about different teams and regardless of who's on Journo etc its usually all very "samey" in the opinions given about other teams.

Unlike say having a chat with your mates about different sides where you can have different views and just have a chat.

Yeah man! The summer will rule for that when we're sitting pretty with all four trophies.

I know it seems like we're having mini production meetings on the forum here, but I value the shit out of stuff like @Mark M has said there so really welcome and feedback we get, especially the critical stuff.
