PODCAST: Liverpool 4 Accrington Stanley 0 - Match Reaction

Federico Chiesa bagged his first goal for the club on a day when Rio Ngumoha became the second youngest player to ever play for Liverpool.

TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Dan Thomas and Paul Natton for immediate match reaction after the Reds ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against the plucky League Two side who gave a decent account of themselves.

I think, essentially, Arne wasn’t interested in tempo, imagine if someone like Danns comes on going gung-ho hell for leather, gets himself 2 goals and Arne let’s him run riot for a hat trick, but then ‘oh no’ he’s got a muscle injury because he overdid it having been out for sometime, it defeats the purpose. Bradley, Danns, Chiesa, Quansah & Elliot were all playing their way out of either sickness or injury or both so it literally was a training run on a cold day.

I actually described it as basically being a training game. That's easier for me to not be bothered about as I'm not sat on the Kop freezing my balls off like Paul was.

I think the mix of youth and experience was about right.

We get pumped every game in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, or whatever its called, when its full on youth team.

Listening to you all talk about Chiesa and it not looking pretty but effective, Jota immediately come to mind. Especially when he dribbles at people, you sometimes wonder how he's beat the man and it's seems like he's bundled the ball past them to score.

And when talking of the games Danns influenced when he come in. The league cup final, really unlucky not to win it for us

Where is Paul sitting in the Kop?

I have always felt you can use a tshirt during the game there all year round.

At least from 201-208 and up.

Big Al? Taking shots at @Tossed and blown?

Thought in the second half we changed tack in terms of using Jota out right, creating a bit more space. In the first Elliot would bring the ball deeper when pressed and Jota would pull wide looking for the long pass. Maybe only happened a few times, but seemed a bit of a plan for me watching from home.

Second half approach already had Elliot in there and chiesa naturally had more space as they kept trying to press on the young midfielder.

“Below 70”?????

And did you walk home on the ‘sidewalk’?  Or did you have a car in the ‘parking lot’?

Don't discourage him from using language that's applicable to the geography! This is progress.

You upset Johnny by using Fahrenheit instead of Celsius, apparently.

I've always used it. Makes way more sense. I know that 90 degrees is hot as fuck, but when someone says "oh its in the mid-20s today" I then have to double it and add 30 to know what the fuck that actually means.

I thought everyone did that. Are you telling me it's just me?

Everyone except the Irish and people who like to measure distances in kilometres.

Actually you're right there, I do use it for that. Once it gets above 5 then I go back to my usual method.
