PODCAST: Brighton 0 Liverpool 2 - Match Reaction

The Reds keep on rolling as goals from Luis Diaz and a Mo Salah penalty were enough to see off Brighton with the minimum of fuss to close the gap at the top just three points.

Chris Smith is joined by John Gallagher and Ian Brown to reflect on this routine win, dissect the latest developments in the Salah contract saga and to look ahead to a massively important game at the Emirates this week.

Agree with Smithy on Sadio. We mentioned it on whichever was the last pod we did together and I think he’s finding a groove now. I think he offers Bobby’s work/hold up play with Jota’s goals. If Mo hadn’t taken that knock yesterday I reckon Diogo might’ve found himself with a bench spell in store. Certainly I don’t see Bobby pushing Sadio aside.

I think I read somewhere yesterday tat Sadio's pass completion rate was 96%. That's unbelievable considering the position he played and the amount of times both Bobby and Jota give the ball away when playing in that role. It's the most condensed area of the pitch

I don't think Jurgen was having a go at Mo for taking  that shot on. He was demanding a penalty because it looked like the defender pulled Mo back as he was lining up the shot.

I thought that but you can clearly see him say, “Pass the ball”.

He definitely said “pass the ball” and Mo goes “to who?”

The pass was never on at any point, and in Mo's defence when he runs into the box he's actually looking square rather than at goal but Bissouma blocks the angle for the cutback and the defenders were covering any angle for a square ball. He had to go on his own on that occasion.

Thought the discussion on the pod about Mo's agent / contract etc was great. Anything I would have said about it was pretty much covered by Brownie.
