I have to say though I find your obsequious level of deference towards authority to be incredible - both as a Red and as someone living in contemporary society. Shanks - our founding father, in many ways - recognised the absolute importance of the fans above all others. Furthermore the notion that trust in authority figures should be unquestioning is an insult to all. Both Liverpool and broader society has been failed by authority figures time after time. Of course I'm not drawing parallels between Klopp and the corrupt cunts who've shafted ordinary people so frequently. But I am bewildered how anyone could adopt such an uncritical gaze.

 

I'm not calling for Klopp's head. I think there's a huge amount to admire about him and the job he's done and I can also see clear progress either underway or in place for the future.

 

However, on the specific issue of our defending he is responsible for a situation where pretty much all fans expert fundamental and costly errors every time we play. Getting angry with fans for reacting to a long-standing problem he has not been able to improve is futile and self-defeating and it's in his interests to stop it. I find it absolutely bewildering that anyone could have a problem with that point. Unless you think kicking off on the fans will turn out well, in which case good luck to you.

 

As for inadequacies, you either do not understand what the word means or you're just lashing out because you can't address the points I'm making and it's frustrating you.

He clearly has. Some changes havent worked (Karius), different personnel have been brought in (Matip and Robertson) and other targets havent arrived (van Dijk or others).

Since were all being so literal, I think it's important to  mention that regular match-goers don't pay the wages.  That's down to Dunkin Donuts and Asian fans.  Match-goers barely raise enough to pay the win bonus.  So guys, stop moaning and do your bit, buy more Jester Hats!

Remember when Major Tom used to say he had no interest in other people's opinions? It raised the question of why he bothered coming here, especially given nobody was interested in his, either.

However, even that isn't really my point. My point is that it's crazy for him to be kicking off on the fans for finding it frustrating. Let's be clear: no-one's getting booed; no-one being ignored for applause or a cheer when they do something good; what's happening is that absolutely basic defensive errors keep costing us points and fans are frustrated by that. Klopp's job is not to tell us to shut up. It's literally his job to sort out the problem at the heart of our frustration.

I can sort of see the argument that you might not be able to take that passion out of Klopp and expect him to still hit some of the same notes that make him a compelling manager in the same way that you could argue if you asked someone like Suarez to tone down their aggression you might not get the same player.

At the same time, though, we've been talking about the same issues for a long time now: weakness at the heart of defense, gaps between the midfield and the centre backs, a lack of resolve to see games out, continually conceding sloppy goals. It was very clear going into the transfer window that we needed to do something to address those areas, and if anything selling Lucas (who shouldn't have been our plan A in the first instance) without bringing in a replacement gave us less options there and made us weaker.

In that context, I really don't know what sort of a positive reaction Klopp would be hoping to elicit. It costs a small fortune to go to games these days. Expecting supporters to just shelve their frustrations at seeing the same failings over and over is not going to happen, and bollocking them for not doing so is just likely to make the goodwill factor dissipate more quickly.

I think it's crazy that people pay loads of money to go and sit in a stadium only to whine and moan and criticise and snipe and lose their shit at the first sign of a backwards pass.

 

If being a Liverpool fan has taught me anything it's that a group of people united behind one cause can be an incredibly powerful force. All Klopp wants is to tap into that, to give the team the conditions where they can flourish and play with confidence and freedom. Does anyone think the support at anfield is actually helping the team in most games?

At the same time, I am sick of paying a fortune to watch us draw with clearly far, far inferior teams because the manager has not addressed a fundamental flaw. It is starting to really, really get up my nose that he keeps fighting with the crowd. Concentrate on getting defenders to be able to do basics and not get in each others way.

I like the guy and wouldn't even contemplate replacing him for the next 4-5 years at least because we can do no better, but he is going to have to wind his neck in. The team need to play their part in helping the crowd as well as the other way round. This team is porous and riddled with moronic mistakes and I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. If Klopp addressed that then he might find a more relaxed crowd. Until we stop throwing goals and points away, this will persist.

I'm sure that's right, but with empty stands the product all of a sudden becomes much less appealing.  I know, I've seen Dagenham and Redbridge.  And Manchester City.

Maybe he's picked this fight to take the heat off the individual players in the hopes they'll respond by putting in better performances. None of our defenders are top class but they are all playing below their own abilities at this point and need to step up.
