Reds at the Euros

It's been a mixed tournament for the Liverpool players at Euro 2016 so far, but all survived the group stages and most are likely to still be in the competition after the first knock out round has ended.

One is certain to be eliminated today as Emre Can's Germany face off against a Slovakia side that will be captained by Martin Skrtel. Can has yet to feature for the much fancied Germans, while it's fair to say Skrtel has had an up and down tournament. He was wretched in a loss to Wales but outstanding in a goalless draw with England.

Several of Skrtel's team-mates featured in that game. Daniel Sturridge, Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson all started, with James Milner an unused substitute.

Young goalkeeper Danny Ward made his first ever appearance for Wales in their opening game while Joe Allen has started all four of their games so far.

The Belgium contingent of Simon Mignolet, Christian Benteke and Divock Origi have not seen much action yet but will be hoping for an opportunity in the knock out stages.

In terms of who has been the most impressive Red out there, it's hardly a difficult choice up to this point. Allen has been by far the most impactful, as his performances in helping the Welsh reach the last eight have marked him out as one of the best midfielders in the competition.

Lallana has caught the eye early in each of England's games before eventually fading, but it's Sturridge who could yet make the biggest impression on the tournament.

Despite being out of favour when the group stages began, the striker now looks to have forced his way back into Roy Hodgson's first choice line up after coming off the bench to score the winner against Wales and then following it up with a good display against Slovakia.

With one goal to his name and a fixture with rank outsiders Iceland coming up on Monday, Sturridge might suddenly find himself in contention for the Golden Boot. Euro 2016 betting odds at William Hill have him currently listed at 50/1 to be the tournament's top scorer, but a goal or two on Monday night would see those odds come tumbling down.
