Euro 2016 Gets Ladbrokes Into Trouble

Euro 2016 may have come and gone, but its effects are still being felt. Leading sports betting firm Ladbrokes has been reprimanded for placing a misleading advert. The Advertising Standards Association (ASA) ruled that the advert the firm placed regarding a promotion on the group B game between England and Wales was in breach of CAP Code 8.17. This code covers the conditions of promotional advertising. The firm was instructed that the advert should never appear in its current form again.

What Ladbrokes Did

The advert for the promotion which was placed by Ladbrokes was misleading in failing to clearly identify which part of the winnings would be paid as free bets. Language in the advert was a bit vague and the information that they are required to have placed in the advert was not there.

All that was on the promotion advert was "Get 6/1 for England beat Wales OR Get 12/1 for Wales beat England". The online advert also stated that the promotion had a £10 maximum bet limit among other things.

Ladbrokes quickly honoured up and admitted that the promotional advert didn't have as much information as it should have had. This is despite all the information being fully available in the stipulated terms and conditions of the promotion. The firm claims that they had instructed their content generation team for the promotion to put all relevant information in the advert.

What This Means To The Ordinary Person

This demonstrates the advantages of playing at properly regulated online gambling sites. The ASA made a big deal about such a small issue. Online gamblers are at risk every day regardless of whether they play online pokies at online casinos or online sportsbooks.

As such they need as much protection as possible. We applaud the actions of the ASA and also Ladbrokes for accepting responsibility. Remember responsible gambling is enjoyable gambling. Visit http://www.casinouk.com/ to learn more about responsible gambling.
