Has Klopp got the Horn for German keeper?

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly ready to raid the Bundesliga to land a new goalkeeper in January. Reports in Germany this week claim that Cologne stopper Timo Horn is on Klopp’s radar as he looks for an upgrade on Simon Mignolet.

The Belgian turned in a poor performance in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, when his poor distribution and decision making with the ball at his feet frequently caused unrest in the crowd, while many also feel he could have done better with Scott Dann’s winning goal.

Mignolet faced a similar situation this time last year when his form nosedived and he suffered the ultimate insult of being replaced by Brad Jones. His current form is certainly not as poor as it was 12 months ago but Adam Bogdan has impressed in two Capital One Cup games and this week was making noises about challenging for the number one spot.

Horn, 22, is a German under 21 international and according to a report in German publication Bild he is available for as little as £6million due to a release clause in his contract. Despite his young age this is his fourth season as first choice for Cologne and he is highly thought of in his homeland.
