Everton FC have teamed up with Tesco's to give loyal Evertonians the opportunity of a lifetime. One fortunate Blue will join David Moyes in the dugout for the final home game of the season, and will be allowed to give the half time team talk as well as decide which substitutions are to be made. The lucky fan will be drawn from a list of all those who can collect 10,000 or more Tesco Club Card points.
An excited Bill Kenwright told 'The Everton Way': “This is a truly marvellous opportunity for a from the heart Evertonian to live the dream. Everybody dreams of being in the hot seat at a huge club like Everton, and even though we've got one of the best managers in the world in the Moyesiah, we felt this was a chance to give something back to our wonderful, loyal fans. Also, Tesco's insisted on it, and seeing as how we don't want to upset them in case they pull the plug on our new stadium plans, we didn't really have much choice.”
So where did this idea come from? Tesco's Marketing Director for the Merseyside area, Miss Gwladys Streetknobs, says the fans themselves were responsible: "It was the Evertonians' reaction to Mr Moyes' substitutions against Tottenham recently that gave us the idea. They were clearly unhappy about them, and listening to them on the radio phone ins afterwards, they all seemed to think they could do better. So now one of them will have the chance to do just that."
