  1. its on five live sports extra, for those out of towners like me....
  2. It seems a shame that in the week that Carragher hangs up is boots that the forum is still being dominated by the Rafa/Chelsea obsession. Unbelievable. Hard to imagine Carra not pulling on the shirt next season, vaguely remember his debut in the League Cup match vs Middlesborough been on in the boozer back in the day - amazing to think it was 16 years ago. A true legend, always a sad day when the players you watched starting out hang up there boots. Are the plans to retire the '23' shirt?
  3. I miss singing the players names as the players lined up on kick off. Used to happen in the early to mid nineties, any one remember why this tradition stopped (kop seats etc)? Every player used to get a shout (every player had easy songs - 'theres only one.... etc) and then every player would then clap the Kop, good times. I swear the on loan keeper Mark Gayle even got a shout..... A tradition that shout be reprised....
  4. I was on the post code checker, sent an email due to address change. Got a phone call last week claryfying new address, fancard details etc. Been on the list since 2000...no letter tho as of yet...
  5. £45 million, plus Anelka (shame its 9 years too late)...
  6. Gutted it has come to this. Nothing in my eyes will eclipse Robbie Fowler being sold in 2001, if he wants to leave then, well, fuck him. Get the money, strengthen the squad, and off we go again. Thanks for the memories Fernando; most of the time you were unplayable, but in recent times it was obvious you were looking for the door marked 'exit'. I feel really sorry for the fans who have 'Torres' bed spreads and all the merch.... all crying into the Torres pillows. the more I think about it, fuck him. luis suarez no 9! Lets look at another way, at least we will sign daniel sturridge in the deal. enough reality there to last a lifetime!
  7. He looked a player in the world cup, and I for one found that hand ball against ghana as quite funny.....! he would be a good signing, no doubt about it, if darren bent is worth £18 million, then suarez would be good business at £15m. still young, a great prospect.
  8. he comes across as the kind of player who is beginning to wonder 'where did it all go wrong?' with all the training ground scraps and the non game time at city. anelka did pretty well when signed on loan, could adebayor be any worse? prefer suarez myself tho.....
  9. Ive got a 93-95 away shirt framed with PIECHICK 19 on the back. He signed around about the time I started going to games, and I thought he was the real deal. Its a shame he will only be remembered for that game vs newcastle! Also got nearly every copy of the sadly missed 'through the wind and rain' fanzine. Nothing like a bit of nostalgia, certainly after recent performances...
  10. i remember about 10 lads getting booed down on the Kop singing 'souness for everton' back in 93 in 2-2 vs swindon, when performances on the pitch were probably worse than now..... didnt souness resign when he heard that bristol city/russell osmans team knew his teams weakness before the cup exit in 94? this season smacks of that throw back to 93-94, when at the time all apeared shite... bit clueless tonight; kuyt/Meireles out wide, no maxi and all that was missing from torres was a sign round his neck saying 'all bids welcome', konchesky getting laughed at and finally reds missing the black arm bands.... dear oh dear...... roll on 94...
  11. careful what you wish for..... people were saying this most of last season, and up to 3rd june this summer. interesting to see how many fans drown out the 'rafa' chants over the christmas fixtures...
  12. like i said to my bro after the man city game (h) last season..... be carefull what you wish for...! we should have won the world club championship in '05 when rafa lost his father and we battered that team from chile (and I had my wisdom teeth out) and still lost, yet last season hardly any one (me included) wouldn't sing his (rafa's) name. yet today, rafa is asking the inter board to 'back or sack' me (after winning the world club cup) - we have heard it all before (i'm sure rafa will go). I'd take him back with a heart beat. the liverpool of champions league semi/quarter final vintage 05-09 surely whips anything currently on show (i still thing we are nailed on a semi in the uefa/europa in 10/11)...
  13. As a veteran of the souness era, surely Paul Stewart is the worst player, certainly in terms of hype. Bought to replace McMahon fo £2.3m (big money at the time) he was the slowest, least mobile player I have ever seen.... a game v man u in 92/93 sticks in my mind, when he was slooooow...... always remember reading in 'through the wind and rain' about that pre season game at prenton park at the start of the 93/94 season (i think) when stewart was laughed at by both sets of supporters after putting in another performance. Souness bought some other classics as well, lets not forget....
  14. the thing which impressed about spearing tonight was that he was still looking for the ball in midfield after he had over hit a few forward passes (some players over the years have gone into hiding when this has happened), as well as some class edge of the box tackles in the second half. poulsons' problem is that he is hodgsons' Jean-Michel Ferri, im sure there were a few cheers/jeers when he was take off....?
  15. Fair point, when refering to Aquilani, I can imagine him 'ringing in sick with a cold' sort of ill, certainly nothing as serious and debilitating as Markus Babbel suffered..... bad choice of terms maybe...
