  1. Talking of which, the school reunion episode of It's Always Sunny nails how shit reunions can be, and is fucking hilarious from start to end.
  2. I went to one ten or so years back and was a mixture of feelings, really. Some people I was happy to see, others had escaped my mind over the intervening years. Was good to see the good people doing well, some people had settled down and had families etc, and then there were the ones that hadn't changed since 1997, hammered at the bar, calling people all sorts of names to high fives from their mates and hadn't moved on in life at all, so it's a bittersweet experience. There was another one five years ago, which I swerved at the first opportunity.
  3. Took 'Ped' 14 seconds to get to the immortal '6 clubs' line. Fair play to him, but I bet he's dead disappointed as he was practicing in the mirror all morning and his PB was 5.2 seconds.
  4. Been picking up a few things online and from my Bloo friends, and things are looking grim for them in all honesty. All in all they have close to a billion of debt from Moshiri loans (£400m-£500m, some of which may be written off to put the sale through), MSP with over £100m, 777 close to £200m and other debts pushing the total further up. 777 need to top up the loan at the end of the month to help with running costs/wages etc but they've apparently announced that they won't unless the deal has been ratified, which it probably won't be. That'll push them perilously close to administration which incurs an automatic 9 point penalty and won't be appealed due to prior cases of the same outcome (Portsmouth springs to mind). Add the potential of another FFP points deduction (at least 6 points as per earlier in the season) and that's a minimum of 21 point deduction and administration for the year. Add all that into the mix that the price of the club was negotiated on where they will be playing next season, so if 777 are successful they get the club at a cheaper price, which would interest them. A brand spanking, new stadium to sell off and rent back for a club they've paid comparative peanuts for.
  5. Think I was 26 when I first joined this site. That was 20 years ago. The things that have changed in my life in the years since I found this place are plenty, but one thing remains............"Fuck off, Momo!"
  6. Picked one up the other night from Asda on offer at £25. Think I've nailed the pour on my fourth attempt. Trick was to take the can out the fridge and leave it for 45 mins so it's not ice cold, which apparently helps the mechanism to pump more gas into it.
  7. A very good mate of mine has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Known him since I was 3, grown up together, same schools, been on holidays, attended each others weddings, kids same age etc. Lost 5st since December, was told yesterday he faces two rounds of chemo and a 12 hour operation just for starters. Absolutely fucking gutted. Cried in work when I was told about his diagnosis which he kept quiet from everyone outside of his family until recently. He's 45, great job, young family. Horrible, horrible disease.
  8. The difference is, we didn't have to pay back £160m in loans. Everton fans can cry arse all they want, buy the reality is with or without 777 their future is fucked.
  9. 777 are being legged all round the world for being a gang of shithouses, it seems. So either way, it's win win. They get approval, sell the stadium with Everton paying rent (don't forget to pay it this time, Blues!) and are run into the ground, or they don't get approval and call in the £160m in loans at an inflated rate with an owner who can't/won't fund the repayments and no other buyer interested in taking on a massive debt.
  10. I've been the doctors three times in 14 years, Cath. I'm not one to turn up unless I'm tied to a chair with a light shone in my face by the family first, and I can hand on heart say, this really fucking hurts. Just like Mudface, I've been told it's rotator cuff that's causing the most trouble and on the xray there's a piece of calcium lodged in the joint. Had my hospital appointment emailed to me with a link to view it, clicked on it just for a message to say the link doesn't work and to speak to my GP. Called them this morning, told I'd get a call back. It's now close to 4pm and it's not coming, is it? I'll throw that in the 'little things that annoy you' thread but the shoulder injury isn't going into the World of a Man thread. Access denied.
  11. I'm two weeks into what has been diagnosed as calcific tendonitis in my shoulder. Had a twinge there for around a year or two and put it down to wear and tear of carrying the kids over the past ten years as they grew up. Couple of Sundays back I woke up with a pain in the shoulder and attributed it to sleeping funny. Woke up at 3am Monday morning in incredible pain but being a man didn't do anything about it. Struggled for a week on painkillers and sleeping on the couch sat upright until the shoulder completely froze and woke up last Sunday through the night in pain that took my breath away, so ended up being dropped off at A&E. One x-ray later and a large piece of calcium has built up in the shoulder joint which has resulted in my being unable to move my upper arm any more than an inch in any direction. Now on 500mg Naproxen, 30mg codeine and all the Deep Heat, Deep Freeze and patches you can shake a stick at. Hospital said I needed to be referred to Orthopedics by my GP who wouldn't refer me until I visited the physio and booked me in yesterday. Within 5 minutes the physio said I needed cortisone injections with the possibility of keyhole surgery in my shoulder. Prescribed me more painkillers as I "could be waiting a long time". Can't drive, working from home and lunch hour walks to clear my head. Not all bad.
