You don't spend 3 seasons buying "squad players" and then sell them when you get a bit of money. Riise is a robotic hoof merchant but he can play left back and left wing and no matter what people say he has been more effective than Gonzalez, Aurelio, Zenden etc. I'd keep him and so should Rafa, but he needs competition at left back that goes without saying. The players that should be on their way are ones who may want to play more but won't get the chance next season, ones who are simply not good enough or players who just haven't cut it here e.g. Fowler, Hyypia, Bellamy, Kewell, etc.

Looks a great prospect and why can't an ex United Captain do for us what an ex Liverpool captain did for 'them'? I think Roy Keane rules, both as a player and now as a manager with his attitude, ability and outlook as a manager. He is a winner, except he hasn't won anything yet! However, it will take more than a lower league promotion win and a few soundbites to be good enough to manage Liverpool's first team.

I'd play Gonzalez on the left and Pennant on the right with Alonso and Gerrard in the middle. I'd have Kewell and Fowler on the bench, and bring both on at half time if things aren't going well. It's all or nothing and in fairness Robbie is still the best finisher at the club.

I understand his frustrating, it's all well and good buying top quality for the first team but I too would be frustrated if some of the young lads in my academy were getting overlooked for some of the dross we have bought over the past 10 years.
