  1. The next three are huge. Brighton are awkward enough. Sheffield United to work the goal difference and the Mancs for retribution and a horrible away out of the way. 9 points and a big swing for the goal difference is the par here and a really good par. Any win at that shithole is to be celebrated but the fact is only for us being fucking imbeciles at finishing, we would have thumped the bastards over 90 mins in the cup. Some nasty hurdles left then...but I think that will give us huge momentum for them. The Champions League draws for Arsenal and City are a thing of beauty...ideally a lovely Battle of England in the semis and a few games postponed. Hillariously, Akanji has now picked up a knock. I'm convinced it's pre-arranged with both sets of managers. In fairness, friendlies are ridiculous at this stage of a season and players going for multiple trophies shouldn't be risked.
  2. Fair points in there. Football was changing and we were hanging in because of the team we had. I was out in town with a mate who worked with the club one time at the end of one of the seasons in the 80s and he was literally telling us that in the space of a week, the club had got huge offers for McMahon, Barnes, Whelan, Nicol and Houghton. Kenny didn't want to sell, but there was apparently a bit of pressure on him to do so. My mate was saying it was a constant thing from the Italian and Spanish clubs. Ultimately, none of those left on his watch, but that did impact us getting other top notch players in. The price for Pallister was bonkers at the time, but what a good defender he was. I'll be honest, some of those signings had talent. If Kenny had stayed past 1991, a few of them probably would have had decent careers here.
  3. Reading back on that era brings back a lot of memories. Two things here; we have to make sure we get the right manager this summer and secondly we support him. Kenny wasn't supported near the end and we were holding on to being the best just by virtue of the players we had who were getting on. It's no secret from that era that nearly all our team was being offered serious money by Spanish and Italian clubs and the club was open to selling. The fact they stayed showed old school loyalty and maybe the massive hurdle it was for British and Irish players to go abroad then. The European ban really seemed to hurt us more than other clubs. Souey seemed like a great fit (Xabi now?) and he was backed massively but the players he bought were expensive flops. I can't really blame us for going back in for Rushy - I'm trying to think of an equivalent but maybe Trent going to Real and us buying him back the following year if he was shite there. I've no doubt Shearer and Keane would have ended up here if Kenny had stayed and maybe the Mancs would have got fed up and sacked Ferguson. Sliding doors moments.
  4. Feel very sorry for her, William and her kids and the rest of her family. I'm no fan of the monarcy, but she is a person with a young family and it's a fucking vile disease.
  5. It's horrific looking but seeing the flag shaggers lose their lives is hillarious.
  6. Fingers crossed our lads get fuck all minutes for the most part and our rivals and the bastards we are going to play have their little darlings run into the ground and pick up as many knocks as possible. I'm looking at Belgium and Portugal here, as well as Ingerlund.
  7. Good news that. I think Arsenal play Spurs the weekend of the West Ham game so could see that being the 4:30 game with us getting the 2pm game.
  8. Anyone have any idea when the Fulham and West Ham games may be scheduled for. I could see Fulham being the classic 12:30 Saturday job.
  9. You know what, he may have been one of the worst there yesterday, but the thousands who sang their songs aren't much better.
  10. Blues are our dads, our mams, our siblings, our husbands/wives, our kids, our best mates etc. My dads a Blue, my mams a Red. They're both in their 90s and watch the derby games with another couple in their 90s who are Red and Blue. They despair at the way things have changed between the fans. The rivalry has gone toxic over the last twenty years, but the Mancs (both to be honest) and Chelsea are on a different level with nearly every club like Luton, Newcastle or Villa ready to sing the ditties in the name of banter. My mate clocked a lad on the Kop doing the Munich years ago and nearly everyone applauded him. The stewards just looked away because 99% of people realise that's not "banter". The decent Mancs need to speak up. Imagine that cunt is a policeman. What a fucking beaut. Words fail me.
  11. The one silver lining from losing to those shithouses is that City's schedule, even for such a huge squad is not going to be nice for them. We have some amount of top players coming back at the right time. Jota is going to be so important and will be the difference if he stays fit. We would have beaten both set of Mancs if he was playing - he would have had a hat trick today. Btw, as much as I'm gutted to lose today, if that game is played 100 times, we win 92-93 times imo. We were so wasteful and I don't believe we will be like that again. We let them off the hook at Anfield. Next time, hopefully is redemption with a capital R. The criticism I've seen of Harvey and others is wrong and unfair. Plenty of others didn't turn up today and not one of our lads should be getting abuse today. We're having a boss season and those lads have been a huge part of it.
  12. Haha good one about Newcastle! When they were going for the title with Keegan, I was gutted for them. Especially for that old boy who used to be at the games. They have a twattier fanbase now, but I guess that is across the board. To be fair, Everton were very good in the 60s.
  13. Everton is a much bigger club imo. They have turned into a bunch of small time losers and Newcastle may become another City down the line, but in terms of history, no comparison. Newcastle fans are nauseating twats. Imagine them, with any type of success.
