  1. Don't read too much into it, being a fan does not mean you want him back or want his babies and not being a fan does not mean you wish him an injury....do you like him or not? Where you in Istanbul or not? Simples! Personally, I am a fan, he made mistakes for sure but his desire to be successful, to set the highest targets and defend the club against anyone were key attributes that will always be needed in a Liverpool manager and that were obviously lacking in his successor. Kenny was the only man I felt could replace Rafa and I am more than happy he is back. This poll was just to see if there was any relation to Istanbul in the apparent love/hate split, so far it seems not but it also seems those who are not a fan are in the minority.....the loud minority mind.
  2. I know the last thing you all want is another Rafa thread/debate....but....as the Rafa love/hate split has grown significantly amongst our fanbase over the last 18 months, I'd love to know if the split is impacted in anyway by Istanbul, with those who were there loving him despite his faults and those weren't disliking him despite his achievements. Honest answers only please!
  3. No, I do think his head was firmly up his anus though....as usual!
  4. I know exactly what you mean Tom, I feel much the same about your posts. One day I hope your bitterness at not being in Istanbul subsides.
  5. Aquilani is a talented footballer who I personally was looking forward to seeing more of this season, instead he got loaned out, we got Cole to replace him like for like and that meant Van Der Vaart was "not the profile of footballer we were looking for" The Manager blames the squad he inherited for our current position but in reality its the same squad minus the big losses of Xabi & Masch that played some excellent football and should have won the title just over 18 months ago. 2 Big losses but they do not turn a team from serious title challengers to mid table dross, what does that is when the manager makes his players believe they are mid table dross to cover his own back. People say we should not expect to win trophies just because we are Liverpool, they are wrong, we most certainly expect to win trophies because of who we are and any player who doesn't believe in and work towards that goal each season is not fit to wear the shirt. That applies even more to the man directing proceedings from the dug out, the time when we lose that expectation is the time when we accept mediocrity, this is why Roy needs to go sooner rather than later.
  6. Credit where its due, big Tom has stopped offering to meet fellow forumites for a straightener before the game.....although maybe thats only because he's stopped going the game.
  7. Agree with all that.....in alot of ways we've been blessed, each of the "shit" managers we've had has still managed to win a trophy, I wonder how that will sit on Roy's cv...only Liverpool manager in over 50 years not to win a trophy! Its not the results, tactics or performances that make him not up to the job, its his "small club mentality", he hasn't got a clue as to what is needed to be a winner.
  8. How many of them have won titles in England? You can talk about a different era all you like, Kenny has the passion, the desire and the experience....the fact that you see Di Matteo as a superior candidate to Kenny is astounding.
  9. Hermes, I am as big a Rafa fan as they come but you've struck a chord with me there....we need a manager as tactically astute as Rafa but who is willing to take a risk, without doubt we'd have picked up more points in 2008/09 if we had taken a few more risks. The club needs to take a risk now and give Kenny the job.
  10. The vast majority of fans seem to be wanting Roy out and its obvious fans are split on Rafa. For me, Rafa is one of the best managers in the game, his record in Europe is not in question but it seems many believe we would never have won the league with him. I reckon he was learning from his mistakes in the league but after we should have won it 2009, in 2010 we went backwards and enough was enough for a lot of supporters. Personally, I'd have given him another year at least, it would have been great to see what he could have done with the upper hierarchy within the club fully behind him. For the Rafa haters though, I presume you now want someone with a proven track record in English Football and not just Europe or another top European league? It CANNOT be another manager who has only done well with average clubs, it MUST surely be a manager who has challenged for the title....and WON! A manager who is only interested in winning, who has taken on Ferguson and come out on top at the end of the season. Since the Premier League started 18 seasons ago, only 4 managers have achieved that, 3 of them are already at top clubs and unlikely to risk their reputation on coming to us....the other one openly wants the job. My question is, are there any Rafa haters who don't want Kenny to replace Roy? If not, why not? And please don't say because of the possibility of him losing his hero status, he won't, and if he's not worried about that, neither should we be. For me, its Roy out and either Rafa back or Kenny in, noone else is qualified enough or loves and understands the club enough.
  11. The games we should have won are equalled by the games we won and shouldn't have, we have done brilliantly this season.....to beat Utd's record breaking run without conceding and also their impressive, and at times lucky, finish to the season would have required a close to perfection season from us. And anyway, its not over yet, they are as likely to lose back to back games at home to Arsenal and away to Hull as they were to lose at home to us and away to Fulham.....I still believe!
  12. Anyone know where the Tragedy song came from or who sang it?
