1. Lucas (again). What a player he's looking these days! Fantastic up until his injury. Big questions need to be asked of the club doctor/physio that let him back onto the field if he worsened his knee from it, never looked right after the collision. Get healthy soon you big leg!

2. Bellamy -must have been emotional for him out there, but two great assists and a very spirited overall performance from a signing that really should continue to be selected in the coming weeks.

3. Toss-up between Maxi and Coates. Really liking the look of the big Uruguayan, great at breaking up attacks with his long legs, and seems really assured on the ball, some great passing too. There'll obviously be some hairy moments (like the Luiz penalty shout), but if he and our fans can be a bit patient I really think he could be another Hyypiä (or even better) for us. Maxi brings us movement, intelligence (hope you are reading this Zigackly:-)) and goals. He may not be an obvious starter for us, but I for one support his inclusion on a more regular basis than up til now.

 

Thought the whole team played well today, so perhaps unfair to single out three/four... Made up for Kelly too, and with Bellamy on the ball (and a few tall/tallish players it has to be said) we finally look like a threat on set pieces as well. Great night, and what a contribution from our supporters, fantastic!!

Coates - this could have also gone to Kelly.

 

Honourable mention for Kelly. Happy for the boy and his first goal. Henderson who I think had a rather mediocre first half and a better second half. He seemed hungry after that awful tackle. I know this won't be popular, but I thought (apart from the missed pen) Carroll did ok.
