I know a lot of you love him but at risk of getting negged.. Does Gervais' laugh not irritate you? A LOT?!

Understatement of the year. It's worse than finger nails scratching down a blackboard.

The ironic thing is, I've heard Gervais mention loads of times how one thing which really irritates him is other people's noise - particularly when that noise is really unnecessary or totally exaggerated.

Saved me typing out a description.

Last nights was class i thought.

"When in Rome, Karl..."

"that's all well and good, if i'm in Rome i'll eat some pasta. When in Egypt...have a bollock for lunch" was on of the best lines so far. As was him pointing out that the old woman who shuffled past him was probably 10 when she left the house, due to being stopped by hawkers that often.

I thought the first 2 or 3 were very good but the last couple have become a bit boring and mediocre.

Yeah I'd agree. I loved the first two but it's trailed off a bit. I think it's become clearer that they've told Karl to make out likes he hates everything even if he's enjoying himself. Some of the situations seem a bit staged though. I think I'll stick to the podcasts.

A few things during the Egypt episode suggested it was one of the first ones filmed. They certainly haven't been showing them in filming order.

Is this scripted at all?

I don't mind that it is. I like it as light entertainment. Karl is an excellent character, even if his traits are exaggerated. Gervais' laugh is easily the worst thing on the programme. I dread it in fact. A real shame as Stephen Merchant has an ace voice and Karl is awesome. I like the writings of Gervais, but he really shouldn't be on telly as "himself" as he is such a faker.

Quite enjoyed last night's one for me though the one in China has been the best so far.

But what must the tourist boards of those countries be thinking? It's a wonder they haven't taking out a hit on Karl at this stage. Each one comes across as a bit of a shite hole.

Sky plussed this and not watched any yet. Thought it was an ace idea though - send someone abroad who doesn't try and pretend to appreciate the culture of other countries, but rather look at it the way it is - foreign shit. Might watch some of it tonight.

Gervais for me isn't funny. He has funny ideas, but he can't and shouldn't try to execute them himself.

Gervais for me isn't funny.

Gervais is a fat fucking fake.

Gervais wakes up, get's out of bed, looks at himself in a full length mirror, winks then rubs his belly as he beats himself off. mwah.

Cancer isn't funny. AIDS isn't funny. Noncery isn't funny. Narcissist Gervais isn't funny. This is true.

As an aside, I don't have Sky so I haven't seen this programme, but I'm sure that Pilkington and Marchant are excellent, but I'll bet that rather than take a figurative step backwards and allow his mate to have his moment in the limelight, Gervais will purposely and quite deliberately try and steal Karl's thunder, upstage and usurp him at every concieveable opportunity.

Look at me Ma, look at me...

Fuck off you fat, gurning, fake.

There's an old Chinese proverb by this Mao fella that says 'a toad in a well only gets to see some of the sky. If the toad came up he would see more of the world' which is a bit like me in a way. I've seen a bit of the world doing this. I don't know if it's made me a better person or not, but he's saying it is 'you get out of the well and see the bigger picture, it's good for you', but I'd say it isn't and the thing is it's not even worth getting out and seeing more sky here because of all the pollution. And definitely if you are a toad I wouldn't get out of any hole here because they'll grab you and cut your head off and eat you!

Crying with laughter at the debrief to this show.

Especially the part where Pilkington said he had asked his family to start calling him Brett, but then he forgot and when they called him he ignored them.

He really is a gift.
