I dont think he is crap by any means, but he needs to perform against the big boys to be rated top quality, and in my opinion he`s failed in the big matches. Also he scored 20 goals this season, i which nearly half of them are penalties.

To be fair he's had a good season in Serie A and scored 15 or so goals. I don't watch Sweden that often but when I have done Ibrahimovic has never been that good and he never seems to score. Off the field he's a very funny guy that sais some funny shit, so i guess thats a part to why he's so popular over here.

 

I guess it's the same in every country. The english papers thinks (or at least thought) Lampard was one of the best in the world, the germans probably think Ballack is the best. And so on.
