Flights to Norway

Anyone know if there's any cheap flights from Northern England / Midlands to Tromsø?

Are there cheap internal flights or fast trains from Oslo/Bergen to the north?

Considering North Scandy Land as a short break destination to see some Aurora Borealis. Is it feasible?

I hope you get to see it, it is utterly fantastic. It is like a silent firework display over a massive area when it is at its best. You have left it a little late as it is best from about november to february when the sky is at its darkest. Can't help with flights etc in Norway I'm afraid though.

You can get a roundtrip from Oslo to Tromsø for about £100 if you book early. Ryanair have flights from JLA to Sandefjord, for next to nothing if you book it in the opposite direction of the Liverpool fans..... (Sandefjord is about 1,5 hr from Oslo, and about 2 hrs away from Oslo Airport). As long as you are going further north than Trondheim, train isn't the best option (I think you have to go via Sweeeeeeden and the trip takes about 108 days).

You can also get direct flights from London and Manchester (and probably one or two other cities aswell), but they are more expensive. You will save time though. You can get a direct flight from Manchester to Tromsø for about £250, and the flight takes about 3 hrs. If you go via Sandefjord you have to pay ca £40 for Liverpool-Sandefjord and about £100 for Oslo-Tromsø (both are roundtrips), and then there's the travel from Sandefjord to Oslo Airport which is probably £30-40 (one way). The whole trip would take at least 6-7 hrs though.
